As Jason prepared to drive, a woman appeared in front of the car, startling him.
“Are you blind? Move out of the way!” Jason cursed.
Seeing the woman standing her ground, Jason stepped out of the car, frustration evident in his tone.

Itwas Anika.
Seizing the moment, she hurried over, opening the door and pleading “Leonel, I've been trying to find you, but Noreen kept blocking me.” Anika hesitated.
The man before her was as handsome as ever, despite his cold demeanor.
He was nothing like the affectionate man she knew.
She couldn't believe it. He used to smile at her. He used to use her lap as a pillow. Were all those tender moments fake? She refused to accept it.
Leonel avoided eye contact with Anika, his gaze fixed ahead as he spoke in a chilly tone. “Miss Cohen, what happened between us was merely a game. | never made any promises to you. Please refrain from contacting me again.” He harbored deep-seated resentment towards her.
Had it not been for her foolishness, Alexis wouldn't have divorced him.

Despite his feelings, he still wrote Anika a check.
“You can stay in the apartment. Take this ten million as compensation,” he said, his voice lacking any warmth.
Anika, her eyes brimming with tears, couldn't believe what she was hearing. “You're tossing me aside with ten million dollars while my life falls apart?” “And so what if you're not okay with that? That's what it costs to get rid of someone like you,” Leonel retorted, his tone devoid of sympathy. “If you're smart, you'll take the money and stay away from me." Anika took the check with shaking hands, feeling utterly humiliated.
His money felt like an insult. With a mix of defiance and hurt, she ripped the check to shreds before his eyes. “I know you look down on me. Call it crazy, but | care about you. | want to be with you” With those words spoken, Anika departed without a backward glance.
Leonel watched her depart, deep in contemplation.
Jason reentered the car, unable to resist commenting on his boss’ situation.
“Women like her shouldn't be taken seriously, Mr. Douglas. If you were just a chauffeur like myself, she'd have found herself another wealthy man by now.”
