She poured out everything she had been holding in
Vera looked at her, stunned, as though she were seeing Sierra in a whole new light.
“Didn't you really want to marry Benson before?” she asked, her voice faltering.
“That's because | thought he cared fortoo. Even with his bad temper and difficult personality, he was always
good to me.
"But now he's in love with someone else. His feelings forwill only fade with time. Even if there's still some
affection left, how long will it last?
Vera pursed her lips and spoke eamestly. “Sierra, you're still young and impulsive. One day, you'll realize that
what I'm doing is for your own good. "I'm not trying to benefit the Shaw family. | just want you to have a better
life. Once you marry into the Gray family and have a child, everything will be fine.” “And then it'll be just like all

For the first time, Sierra spoke to Vera with such force and finality.
Vera's face drained of color, and her body shook violently as her daughter's words hit her deeply.
Sierra felt a tight pain in her chest as she spoke, the words leaving her struggling to breathe. She grabbed her
bag from the table, ready to leave this suffocating home.
Suddenly, the door was flung open with a force that shook the room. William stormed in, rage radiating from
him, his glare sharp enough to cut through Sierra. Vera quickly stepped in front of Sierra, terrified that William
might lash out,
"Mom, step aside. If he has the guts, let him beatto death." Sierra's voice was eerily calm as she met
William's gaze, showing no fear. "William, don't get angry. Sterra is still young. I'll talk to her," Vera advised,

William narrowed his eyes and scoffed. "Benson said he'll set a wedding date soon. Until then, you're staying in
the Shaw residence. You're not going anywhere."
At first, he thought the marriage alliance with the Gray family had fallen apart when Benson cdown looking
so upset. However, to his surprise, after chasing after him, Denson had confirmed that the marriage would
proceed as soon as possible.
This made William overjoyed.
Regardless of Benson's reasons for marrying Sierra, the key was that the Shaw family would now be tied to the
Gray family, and he was more than satisfied with
that.
Sierra still had to be kept incheck, though.
Sierra's expression darkened as she replied coldly, "I won't marry him, and you have no right to control my
freedom."
