Chapter 18
Antonio’s words sent the crowd into a frenzy of confused
murmurs.
“What the heck is Mr. Kaufman doing? I'm so lost,” one guest
asked.
“Rich folks sure know how to keep things interesting,” another commented.
The romantic vibe vanished in an instant.
Janelle, still in the dark, forced a smile and said, “Tino, that was funny.”
Antostepped out from behind the big screen, his face cold and unreadable.
Those with keen eyes sensed something was off.
“This is gonna be fun,” someone whispered.
The rest held their breath, waiting to see what would happen
next.
Janelle pouted with hopeful eyes. “Tino, if you keep this up, I'm gonna be upset.”

“Whatever. Like | care,” Antoshot back, striding over and yanking the ring off her finger. “Don’t mess up my
ring. You can afford it.”
Janelle stared at him, totally shocked, her body trembling.

Antoripped away the roses around them, stowing the ring back in its box. “I never planned to marry you.
Tonight was all about showing everyone who you really are so no one else falls for your tricks.”
The venue fell into stunned silence, so quiet that even the sound of breathing seemed loud and unsettling.
Antopressed his remote, and the screen began playing footage from Dessert Tryst. Then there was the chat
history and phone call recordings with her so-called besties.
The guests’ jaws dropped. They couldn't believe Janelle’s shady moves.
Antodidn’t even glance her way. Turning to the guests, he gave a slight bow and said, “Sorry for dragging you
all here for this , not a real wedding. My fiancée is actually Grace. She's stuck byfor three years and
put up with a lot because of me. | owe her a big wedding to make up for it. Hope you'll all cto our wedding.”
With his speech, the guests knew tonight was all about shaming Janelle. Given Antonio’s openness about the
family , they went along, acting like nothing had happened.
Applause broke out, and the chatter switched to Grace.
“She must be awesto get Mr. Kaufman settled down. Congrats!”
“I knew Antowouldn't marry Janelle. Plus, she’s a twice- married old hag. Who'd want someone like that?”

The comments hit Janelle like a ton of bricks. She forgot all about manners and grace, screaming at Antowith
a shrill voice. “Antonio, you played me?”
Antoreplied casually, “Seriously? Even an idiot could see that | would never marry a divorced woman. I'm the
heir to Kaufman Group, don’t you know? You think you deserve me?”
Sburst into laughter, joking that Antoshould try stand-up comedy.
“Acting’s not my thing. | can’t pull off the stunts someone here does,” he said, smirking at Janelle.
She totally lost it, lunging at him like a madwoman.
Chaos broke out as guests screamed and scattered. Antoshoved her away, making her fall hard. “Aren’t you
worried the baby will hate you for treatinglike this?” she spat, hatred blazing in her eyes.

His face showed a flicker of hesitation, and then he sneered, “Oh, about the baby, we should get a paternity
test.”
“Antonio, you'll regret this!” Janelle, on the brink of a meltdown, tried to attack again, but security held her back.
“Regret? My only regret is not seeing your true colors all these years.” His words cut Janelle deep.
As the mocking laughter grew louder, she began to bleed, staining her white wedding gown.
“Mr. Kaufman, look,” one staff member said, panicked.
Seeing the blood, Janelle started laughing maniacally. Her screams echoed through the place.

She looked up and met Antonio's icy gaze.
“Get her to the hospital. | don’t want her dying in my territory,” Antodemanded and walked away.

Hours later, his assistant called, “Mr. Kaufman, Ms. Crosby’s baby didn’t make it. It was nearly five months old.”
“Five months?” Antogasped.
“The baby wasn’t mine. How many lies has this vicious woman told?” he muttered to himself.
Then, struggling to keep his voice steady, he said into his phone, “I don’t want to see her again. Also, find Grace
for me.”
