Chapter 1236
Chapter 1236
Lydia immediately toned down her excitement, unsure whether to let go of Quincy's hand or not, worried her
father might catch on. Feeling nervous, she shot a pleading look toward Quincy for help.
Luckily, Quincy understood.
With Mrs. Fay staying at the hospital to care for Mr. Fay, the two didn't linger and left soon after.
Since the biggest hurdle had been Mr. Fay's disapproval of their relationship, Lydia wanted to secure everything
while things were still in their favor.
She had brought all the necessary documents with her just in case, so they decided to head to the courthouse
and get their marriage license right away.

A short while later, holding their official marriage license in her hands, Lydia's face lit up with a radiant smile.
She extended her hand toward Quincy and playfully said, "Hello, Mr. Quincy. From today onwards, let's take care
of each other."
Quincy's charming smile, warm and intoxicating like the finest wine, softened his features. Seeing that no one
was around, he gently cupped her face and placed a tender kiss on her lips, as if handling the most precious
treasure. "And please take care oftoo," he replied softly.
Lydia decided to keep their marriage quiet for now, especially since the company was still in its early stages and
she didn't want to draw unnecessary attention. However, she did tell her parents.
When they found out, especially her father, who was still in the hospital, they were shocked. In the blink of an
eye, Lydia had gotten married without even waiting for them to get out of the hospital. According to Mrs. Fay, Mr.
Fay's face stayed dark for two whole days, and he even warned Lydia not to chfor a while so he
wouldn't lose his temper at the sight of her.
Lydia pouted, mumbling, "He's the one who gave his approval. Why is he getting upset now?"
Mrs. Fay's response over the phone was laced with humor. "Agreeing to let you be together and actually knowing
you went ahead and got married are two different things. Imagine you've been caring for a delicate flower for
years, and suddenly someone comes along and snatches the whole pot. Wouldn't you be upset?"
With that analogy, Lydia suddenly understood her father's feelings and realized why he had been so reluctant
about their relationship before. It all made sense now.
After a few more exchanges, Lydia
remembered something important.
"By the way, Mom, you and Dad
used to wantto be with Eugene. Now that I'm married, can you
please make sure Aunt Nancy
knows it's not happening anymore?"

"Oh, right! I almost forgot," Mrs. Fay chuckled. "Don't worry, I'll mention it next t| talk to her."
Relieved, Lydia felt at ease. Mrs. Ford had always been kind to her. As a child, Lydia had spent many afternoons
at the Ford family home, sometimes even staying for dinner.
She fondly remembered Mrs. Ford teasing, "Lydia is such a wonderful girl. If she becomes my daughter-in-law
one day, that would be even better!"
Thinking back to those childhood memories, Lydia sighed softly. Mrs. Ford had been lovely, but sometimes things
just didn't work out, no matter how well-meaning the intentions.
Now that her mother would handle the matter, Lydia felt completely at ease. Besides, with the company growing
busier after securing the big contract in Salt City, there was no tto dwell on old matters
She threw herself into work, helping out wherever she could, whether it was buying coffee or managing tasks. It
wasn't long before the whole issue with the Ford family was pushed to the back of her mind. But just a couple of
days later, her phone rang unexpectedly. When Lydia answered, she was surprised to hear Mrs. Ford's voice on
the other end.
"Lydia, I'm attending a charity gala in a few days. Would you be interested in joining me?"
