Chapter 184
“Adrian? Is he ok? What did the king do to him?” Question after question tumbled out of my mouth as my panic
increased. | was supposed to have chere to set things in motion, he toldto get the king off the throne,
instead I've been dragging my heels and wallowing in my memories, we were in the middle of a very real
situation and yet, | allowed my imagination to run rampant.
“He's just bedridden currently. Something to do with silver. A lycans only weakness | suppose.” | caused that. He
got
punished because of me, because he gotout.
“Lycans, have many weaknesses. You just have to be perceptive enough to figure out what they are.” |
nonchalantly began to open the little envelope and proceeded to pull out a folded piece of paper. On the from in
big bubble letters was the number 18, along with drawings of balloons and a cake with candles in it. Freddie
remembered.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“It’s your birthday?” John spoke while looking at the paper in my now tight grip. | smiled slightly and shook my
head in surprise at my brothers actions.
“Not yet.” It was in two days, not that | actua
nted people to know. | had been paraded around and showed off
enough to lasta lifetime, the last thing | needed was to be the center of attention yet again.
“Well, whenever it is, happy birthday, 18 is a big deal.” Was it? It didn’t feel like it was, | mean sure, | would
technically be considered an adult, and typically if Josh hadn't have claimedthen | would have been able to
becFreddie's legal guardian, but none of that mattered now. | couldn't even speak to him without putting his
life in danger, so there was no way ofbeing able to look after him, the best thing | could do for him was to
stay as far away as possible.
“It’s just another day.” | shrugged and pocketed his homemade birthday card, my mind wondering to the still
unopened letter my mom wrote to me. | really couldn't bring myself to read it still, | had hurt her too much, |
deserved to feel
guilty.
| knew Freddie's was just a picture, but my mothers, well that’s a letter, and there was just no going back once |
read it. | would loose myself completely if she toldhow disappointed she was. I'd be Even worse if | read it
and it toldshe was proud of me, | hadn't done anything to make her proud. | had killed her. 2
“At least you're here for it and not with the king. | can only imagine the things you must have seen in the time
you were with him.” | had seen and witnessed enough horror to lastfive lifetimes and more, but instead of
agreeing with the man in front of me, | shook my head before looking him in the eyes.
“You couldn't possibly imagine the things | have witnessed. Not one person who is a genuinely decent human
being would ever have an imagination that wild.” | sighed and looked at the request sheet he had handed me, |
was once again caught off guard by the sheer amount of alcohol bottles that were on the list.
“If you ever want to talk then...” urgh, that speech again. So what if I'd been through a lot. The worst thing
anyone could ever say tonow was they were there for me. It was bull shit, no one was there for me, because
no truly knew what had been going on.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Noted!” My sarcastic reply left the lock smiths son lost for words. So | quickly began to change the subject.
“Hey, we've got to start monitoring the intake of alcohol requests. From now on we take names with everyone
asking about liquor. If their nappears more than twice in one month they don’t receive any. Do you
understand?”
