Frustrating? Ethan had an unreadable smile on his face. When has Little Fox ever suffered from frustration? She’s
been making me frustrated at home all day, so how would she ever get herself into a similar situation?
He thought the notion was impossible. He sat back and anticipated the show she was about to put on, feeling
curious about her revenge. No matter what, he would let her have fun. When the time was up, he would take care
of everything else for her. Even if the sky were to fall, he would handle that for her. With him around, she could
have the fun of her life!
Emma doubted Alice had seen through her plan because the drug was colorless and tasteless. It was practically
undetectable in the Coke. However, she also noted that Alice had placed the glass against her lips without taking a
sip.
“Bruce, I wonder what Alice said to the manager. Did she run into trouble? I have something going on here. Could
you help me to check in with her? You know she’s naive, and she doesn’t know how to handle problems on her own.
I’m worried for her.” Emma reached out to Bruce with concern on her face, acting as gently as usual. She would
not be relieved until she got an idea of what Alice was up to.
At that moment, she was too afraid to go up to Alice, fearing that her plan was uncovered. Instead, she decided to
send Bruce to check out the situation.
“Sure.” He glanced at her but said nothing. He knew she was behind the drugging but ultimately chose to side with
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇther. Earlier on, he, too, noticed Alice’s suspicious behavior, so he was curious to find out what was going on.
He showed up behind Alice. Coincidentally, or perhaps deliberately, Mr. Hampton happened to leave when he
arrived.
“Alice, what are you doing?” he questioned her from behind.
She quickly spun around, acting as though she had just noticed his presence. Her expression changed, and she
looked like she was in shock and fearful. Her hand pressed against the tabletop, looking as if she was trying hard to
hide something.
Due to that, he scrunched up his eyes in suspicion. The more she acted in that way, the more doubtful he felt. He
went closer to take a look at the writing she was hiding beneath her hand.
Since he wanted to glimpse at the thing she covered up, he had no choice but to stand to her right, where a bar
stool was right behind him. Given the height of the stool and its proximity, anyone who was in that position would
naturally take a seat. That was within Alice’s plan as well.
When she saw Bruce’s reflexive behavior, something flashed across her eyes. “Here, have a Coke.” She placed the
spiked drink in front of him.
“No, I don’t drink Coke.” His expression immediately changed as he frantically pushed the glass away, exposing
himself in the process.
She stared at him with a knowing smile. “Did you also know that something’s wrong with the Coke?”
Although Bruce was in disbelief, he had to admit that she must have discovered Emma’s action. So, she knew. Did
Mr. Hampton find out and tell her about it? Even at that moment, he refused to believe that the ‘dumb’ Alice would
find out the truth herself.
“So, you seem to know. If that’s the case, you’re not entirely innocent.” Instead of answering, she flashed a cold
smile as she looked toward the bar stool behind him. At first, she planned to bait Emma, but Bruce came over to
her instead. Since he was the one who wanted to confront her and be Emma’s scapegoat, she did not feel bad for
putting him in trouble.
She had noticed something amiss in Bruce and guessed that he must have known something about the drink. His
response to her action just now proved her assumption.
Bruce knew that Emma was trying to drug her, but he still sided with Emma. Huh, birds of the feather flock
together!
She did not stop him from taking a seat on the bar stool, and he seemed puzzled by her remark. After sitting down,
he forcefully pushed away her hand to see what she was hiding.
To his dismay, the tabletop was clean and empty. He looked at her with a frown and planned to get up.
That prompted her to lift a brow. Looking at the man, she broke into a smile. “I need to warn you out of goodwill—
since you’ve taken a seat, you should stay still, or you’ll suffer severe consequences.”
Bruce was the recipient of the surprise that she had carefully prepared for Emma, so he should enjoy it.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“What do you mean?” He frowned and shot her a quizzical look, but he listened and stopped himself from getting
up. After not seeing Alice for a few days, she appeared different than before, but he could not quite pinpoint her
changes.
The smile on her lips widened into a cheerful and innocent grin. “Oh. I forgot to tell you that I accidentally left some
all-purpose glue on the stool. It’s the one you’re sitting on right now.”
She purposely paused before adding casually, “And I accidentally poured a little too much. There are two tubes’
worth of glue on it, and unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to wipe it clean before you came over and sat on it.
So, you know…”
Did she accidentally pour two tubes of all-purpose glue on the stool? That was a ridiculous and unbelievable claim.
Watching from the third floor, Ethan clenched his jaw when he spotted Alice smiling brightly at Bruce. She was
whispering, so Ethan could not make out her words.
Instantly, Irvin felt the change in the atmosphere around him. He glanced at Ethan and reflexively took a few steps
aside, knowing he would die from the chill if he stood beside him.
However, Ethan’s anger was justified. Everyone knew that Alice liked Bruce, so Ethan would reasonably feel furious
at the sight of her beaming at Bruce.
Meanwhile, Bruce’s expression crumbled as he tried to move. Indeed, he was unable to get up. His pants were
glued firmly to the stool, and even his skin seemed stubbornly attached to the surface.
“Alice Woland…” An ashen-faced Bruce glared at her with menace. He believed that she had done that on purpose.
Accidentally? Did she not have the chance to wipe it clean? Even so, she could’ve warned me before I sat on it!
