real match made in heaven.” Alice deliberately raised her voice to refute the hushed gossip around her. She knew

that Emma was flirting with a few men, taking turns to associate with them, apart from having an illicit affair with

Elijah.

Alice had to give it to Emma. She was something to be capable of pleasing multiple love interests without getting

caught red-handed.

Since Emma wanted to play with her, she would teach Emma a lesson. That was only the beginning, for the best

was yet to come.

Well, since Emma is so good at pleasing her multiple love interests, let’s get her into trouble today. Alice was aware

of Emma’s goal. Her decision to play on the issue was akin to torturing Emma.

She knew that Bruce was once Emma’s top pick. After all, the Yeagers were rather influential in Rodcaster, and

Bruce was considered accomplished among his peers. However, after the mess she orchestrated at the wedding,

the Yeagers were left in ruins. So, Alice wondered if the Yeager Family was still at the top of Emma’s list.

“Emma, am I right?” She looked at Emma and prompted the latter to answer.

At that point, Emma was cornered. She never expected Alice to bring that up at the event, and her face fell. She

could never express her thoughts openly on an event of this scale. Once she admitted her relationship with Bruce,

she would effectively deprive herself of other marriage prospects. On top of that, Bruce was yet to be her best

candidate for marriage.

After Keith’s visit to the Wolands for Alice’s hand in marriage yesterday, Emma was jealous and refused to give up.

She wanted to marry Keith, and she had a plan for that. If she admitted to her relationship with Bruce, she would

kill off any chance of marrying into the Rowland Family. Thus, she would do anything than admit it.

Of course, her denial would risk irking Bruce, but she had no choice. If she bagged the Rowlands, Bruce would

mean nothing because she would become the top socialite in Rodcaster.

“I’m just friends with Bruce. Alice, you must’ve misunderstood.” After weighing the cost and benefit, she came to a

decision. Unbeknownst to her, she walked right into Alice’s trap, which marked the beginning of her tragic fate.

Bruce, who stared keenly at Emma, was gripped by bewilderment and anger. When he was with her a month ago,

they even discussed marriage. She had not promised anything, but neither did she turn him down. How could she

claim that they were friends?

Friends? Bruce was not a dimwit. He understood what she was implying.

“Oh? Just friends? Does that mean you won’t get married? Emma, are you not going to marry Mr. Yeager?” Alice

was secretly chuckling at the scene. Even though she put on a shocked face, she was anything but surprised.

Emma’s reply was expected, but she would not let go just yet.

Emma resented Alice but dared not show a hint of it. With a pure smile, she looked at her sister. “Alice, stop pulling

my leg with the mention of Mr. Yeager.” She even changed the way she addressed him.

He was no longer Bruce but Mr. Yeager to her. The seemingly casual joke revealed her intentions.

Bruce’s eyes darkened as a smirk appeared on his face with a hint of disgust as well. He had been with Emma for

five years, but she claimed they were just friends and that their relationship was nothing but a casual joke. Is she

taking me as a fool? Emma Woland, you shameless b*tch!

Ironically, he seemed to forget that he had been engaged to Alice before the wedding. Not only did he turn Alice

into a fool, he even planned to take away her family assets and life. He and his family were levels above Emma in

terms of shamelessness.

“Oh, I always thought you were in love with Mr. Yeager. Turns out it’s just a joke. Guess it’s a misunderstanding.”

Alice sighed softly, a chuckle escaping from her wistfulness.

Everyone started gossiping about Emma after hearing that.

“What’s going on? Did Bruce dump Alice because he had an affair with Emma?”

“Sounds like Alice knew about it from the start. Did her failed marriage have something to do with this relationship?

Maybe it wasn’t the Yeagers who looked down on her. She might’ve refused to marry him because she learned

about the affair!”

“Emma Woland looks demure, but you’d be surprised to learn what she’s hiding beneath.”

“Didn’t Emma just explain? Maybe it was Alice who wanted to slander her.”

“Ethan, I don’t think Alice looks as infatuated with Bruce as the rumors had it. Look, she was unbothered when she

talked about Bruce and Emma. She didn’t sound sad—even smiling happily!” Irvin was at it again. He thought that

Ethan would be receptive to his remark.

Indeed, Ethan smiled, for he also never believed that Alice was ever in love with Bruce. She did not give a thought

to her dress at the wedding, and the mess she created then almost led to the demise of the Yeagers. When the

Yeagers were on fire, she did not show mercy to them at all.

She would not have done all that if she had any feelings for Bruce. After the wedding, Ethan firmly believed that she

had no feelings for that man. However, her action of handing over Woland Group to Bruce was confusing to him,

Back on the busy floor, Emma started shivering when she saw the knowing smile on Alice’s face. She had a bad

feeling about this. Pursing her lips tightly, she kept quiet, feeling threatened by Alice’s odd smile.

She had given Bruce up after her declaration just now. Knowing his ego, she knew they would never get back

together again. With that in mind, she did not want to have lingering feelings. She turned to leave, fearing that Alice

would spit some unsavory facts again.

Meanwhile, Bruce’s smirk deepened when he saw her taking leave. She had given up a five-year relationship in an

instant without any feelings! How cruel and shameless of her to do so!
