Chapter 785 A Night of Secrecy

Just as Martha was about to approach Charlotte, Joe suddenly said to

Charlotte, “Aren’t you feeling unwell? Maybe you should go upstairs and rest.”

Charlotte paused, immediately understanding Joe’s meaning.

She nodded, “Okay.”

Watching Charlotte head upstairs without looking back, Martha subtly frowned

and casually asked Joe, “Has her memory not returned yet?”

Joe responded, seemingly a bit troubled, “Dr. Twain said her case is difficult

and requires long-term treatment.”

Martha’s eyes shifted, “Dr. Twain? Is he reliable?”

“My friend recommended him; there won’t be any problems,” Joe said

confidently. Martha was slightly relieved and nodded, “As long as he’s

reliable, psychological issues are not to be taken lightly.”

Now she looks like a mother worried for her children, Joe sneered inwardly.

“Ben and Anna…” Martha hesitated, looking around and not seeing any sign

of them.

“They went to visit friends with Sir Smith,” Joe said lightly.

After failing to see the children several times, even Martha understood that

Joe was deliberately keeping them away from her.

However, she was very confused. Since they met, she had been very gentle

toward them and even restrained her behavior for fear of raising Joe’s

suspicions. So why was Joe’s attitude always indifferent?

“I…” Martha wanted to voice her grievances, but when she met Joe’s deep

gaze, she put those thoughts away.

She looked down, hiding her emotions, and said softly, “I’ll leave first, then. If

the children come back, I’ll visit them.”

Joe remained indifferent, watching Martha leave.

Stepping out of the villa, Martha walked to her car. Just as she opened the

door, she saw Hope sitting inside.

Hope looked gloomy and frowned, asking Martha, “He still didn’t let you see

the two children, right?”

Martha silently nodded.

She suddenly looked at Hope, “Could it be that he resents me for not being

by his side all these years? Is that why he is treating me like this?”

Hope grabbed her hand, “Of course not. It’s just that after so many years apart, getting closer naturally requires

more effort.” Martha immediately leaned on Hope’s shoulder, looking doubtful, “Really?” “Of course.” A hint of

coldness flashed in Hope’s eyes, “It seems we need to take more drastic measures.” Martha looked up at him,

“What should we do?”

Hope touched her hair, saying softly, “Leave it to me. You just need to be

happy.”

Martha’s eyes immediately filled with emotion, “You’re so good to me.”

Hope smiled meaningfully, “You’re my wife; if I’m not good to you, who should

I be good to?”

The two kissed immediately.

After Martha left, Joe went upstairs and saw that the door to Charlotte’s room

was ajar. He decided to go in and check on her.

As he entered, he saw Charlotte sitting in an armchair, fast asleep.

A book on psychology was beside her hand.

Looking at her peaceful sleeping face, Joe felt a slight emotion.

Maybe forgetting the past was a better choice for her.

He turned to find a blanket to cover Charlotte, but suddenly saw beads of

sweat appearing on her forehead, and her brows were tightly furrowed.

Obviously, she was having a nightmare.

He was about to comfort her when he saw Charlotte suddenly grab his wrist,

looking intently at him.
