Carrying her handbag, Scarlett then bought a male fragrance. Not until six o'clock did she walk out of the mall with several shopping bags in her hands.
Alexis had been fully occupied since the beginning of the year. Scarlett hadn't gone shopping and bought so many things by herself for quite stime.
She had Julie to thank for this. Scarlett wouldn't have wanted so much to buy a purse if Julie hadn't competed against her for the handbag.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtScarlett had just stowed away her things when her cellphone rang.
The call was from an unknown number. Scarlett ducked into her car, locked the doors and answered it. "Hello?" "Hello, Ms. Reed. I'm the salesclerk of the Alovarance store you just visited. I'm calling because Ms. Woods didn't buy the purse you wanted to purchase just now. It's still here. | was wondering if you still would like to buy it." Scarlett lifted her eyebrows, feeling amused. "I never accept leftover." ‘Especially not when that woman is Julie,’ she added silently.
The saleswoman hurriedly apologized. "I'm sorry, Ms. Reed. | didn't mean to be rude. | just got the sense that you liked that purse pretty much. Since you don't want it anymore, I'll waste no more of your time. Have a good day." After hanging up, Scarlett couldn't help but click her tongue.
She wouldn't have left that quickly if she had known beforehand that Julie couldn't afford the purse. She should have stayed to watch Julie embarrass herself.
She had miscalculated.
Scarlett checked the tand found that it was 6:15 p.m. already. She collected her thoughts, put away her cellphone and drove towards Clear Waters.
The traffic was a little heavy, and it was half past six when Scarlett reached her destination.
It was indeed somewhat impertinent of her to be late for her first meeting with him.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKatherine had arrived stago. At the sight of her walking inside, Katherine called, "Ms. Reed." Scarlett inclined her head and shifted her gaze to the two men present.
She recognized Larry easily enough, for she had seen pictures of him. Of course, she had also seen Larry at Clair's birthday party a few days ago.
Scarlett put down her handbag and seated herself.
Sorry I'm late, Mr. Tank. There was a traffic jam." "It's okay." Larry had an unapproachable air about him. Though smiling, he struck Scarlett as detached.
Scarlett glanced at him. "Is the local food to your liking, Mr. Tanke?" "Yeah." Larry made a response. His tone of voice was lukewarm, but his eyes had been fixed on Scarlett all along.
Strangely enough, his gaze didn't strike Scarlett as offensive. She even found it faintly...affectionate.
Scarlett chuckled in her mind, feeling that she was overthinking.
Apart from everything else, Larry was from a prestigious family, and he was a politician. He was different from fops like Henry. It was unlikely that he had taken an immediate liking to her.
