The voice amplified by the microphone was rather loud. Walking along, Scarlett heard someone inside congratulating Jane on her marriage in advance.
The instant Scarlett reached the doorway when she spotted Jane standing on a raised platform with a microphone in her hand. "Guys, please make yourselves at hand eat and drink to your hearts’ content." Oh, so it was Jane's treat.
Scarlett lifted her brows slightly. The one on the platform spotted her. "Everybody, please move your eyes in the direction of the door. Look who's just arrived!" Jane had scarcely finished speaking when dozens of pairs of eyes flashed at Scarlett.
Many people gasped at the sight of Scarlett. "Who's that beautiful woman?" It had been five years since their graduation, and Scarlett had hardly participated in any group activities with her classmates when in college, so it was unsurprising that sof her classmates failed to recognize her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtScarlett had been deemed the prettiest girl in Juanton University, but Jane had been regarded as the prettiest girl in the class.
In fact, anybody with eyes could tell which one of the two was prettier, and that was why Jane had been nursing a grudge for so many years.
But Scarlett had been so famous in Juanton University back then that soon someone recognized her. "My goodness! That's Scarlett Reed!" The crowd was filled with astonishment when Jane walked over to Scarlett. "I thought you wouldn't come." Looking at her, Scarlett smiled thinly, "You personally shoved the invitation into my hand." As if not having detected the note of sarcasm in Scarlett's words, Jane raised her brows. "Oh, by the way, my husband has a dinner engagement tonight, but he'll be here in a few moments. I'll introduce him to you when he comes." Scarlett was uninterested in making Jane's husband's acquaintance. She had chere for the matter of Linley.
"I'm not interested in any other woman's husband." Jane chuckled, "But he's your old classmate as well, Scarlett." "Oh." Scarlett lukewarmly made a response and walked inside.
In fact, Jane was a comely girl, and her family was affluent too, which was why she went overseas immediately after graduation.
But the reason why Jane appeared to be beautiful when standing among a crowd of ordinary people was because none of those around her was prettier than her.
But now, with Scarlett standing in front of her, many people found that Jane looked rather homely.
Scarlett’s beauty had a tender but faintly raffish quality to it. Her charming eyes, in particular, always made those she was looking at feel as if she were trying to convey something.
However, she was emanating a brooding air. Though she had a smile on her face, few of her old classmates dared strike up a conversation with her.
Jane was different. She had been waiting for Scarlett to call along, and now Scarlett finally showed up, so Jane naturally made her move without hesitation.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"I heard that you've founded an entertainment company. That's very impressive, Scarlett." Her words sounded like a compliment, but if Jane really meant those words as a compliment to Scarlett, Jane wouldn't have had that sinister look on her face.
Looking at the glass of red wine Jane was handing to her, Scarlett shook her head. "I drove here, so I'm going to pass on the wine." Jane shrugged, replaced the wine with juice and handed it to her.
"Thanks." Scarlett gave no response to Jane's remarks, but Jane had a contingency plan." Our classmates have all done pretty well for themselves. Do you remember Martin Blake? It's said his family received a compensatory payment of over 200 million dollars during a compulsory purchase of their properties. He's an old classmate, and you're the prettiest girl in the college in your time. You two really should have a good long talk ' With that Jane suddenly chuckled, "Ah, but Martin probably wouldn't be able to give you as much as 100 million dollars." Having seen the video of Scarlett "greedily" naming a price for marrying Raymond, those present remembered only the part that Scarlett had gotten married for money. It was only too obvious that Jane was saying such words to satirize Scarlett.
Martin had been a notorious playboy in recent years.
One of them was greedy, the other lecherous.
Jane thought sneeringly, 'Aren't they a perfect match?"
