Roland looked at the message on his phone, "The fairy tale is over," and he abruptly slammed his phone on the floor.
‘Scarlett, damn woman!" Scarlett was right. He and Linley had been separated for two years, and now Linley could file for divorce in court.
Linley could wait two years, but Roland couldn't.
Not to mention two years, even if it was two months, he could not afford to wait! Obviously, Linley had the upper hand this time.
Katherine made an appointment with Roland to meet with Linley at 2:30. After they had lunch, it was 1:30. They went to a cafe near the City Hall.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAt 2:20, Katherine saw a car parked across the street in front of City Hall, and Roland stepped out of the car.
She hurriedly told Scarlett and Linley, "Ms. Reed, Ms. Tucker, Roland is here." Scarlett gave a soft tsk and looked across the street at the man.
Across the wide street, they recognized Roland standing in front of the City Hall.
Linley was a little nervous. She subconsciously tugged on the strap of her handbag. She was about to get up to meet Roland, but Scarlett stopped her, "Don't worry. Wait for a few more minutes." Scarlett only asked Roland not to be late, while she didn’t ask him to be early.
Linley understood Scarlett's intentions.
She nodded and sat quietly.
After five minutes, Scarlett smiled, "Tto go. Good luck with you!" Then she helped Linley straighten her clothes. "I can do a lot of things for you, but for this one, you need to handle it yourself, Linley." "I know." Today Linley wasn't just going to get a divorce from Roland, she was going to say goodbye to Roland and all that awful past.
After today, she would have nothing to do with the terrible things that had happened in her marriage. She could start a new life. She wouldn't have to obey Roland's parents, or put up with Roland's occasional verbal and physical abuse. She wouldn't have to worry about the Tuckers retaliating against her parents in the future.
After today, she would never cback to the city again.
Linley took a deep breath and looked at Scarlett, who had a smile in her eyes, and nodded with emotion. Then she turned around and left the cafe with determination.
Standing on the side of the street, Linley saw Roland smoking a cigarette.
Her heart was pounding. Nervousness and fear were in her heart, and her hands were trembling.

Before Linley could see Scarlett, Roland had already put out his cigarette and walked up to her.
Roland looked Linley up and down. Then he sneered, "Lucky you! Where did you find your boss?" Linley let out a gasp and said, "Let's go inside." Linley did not answer the man's question, and his face instantly darkened. However, Linley was already heading inside City Hall.
The two sat down. The staff went through the formality questions. For the whole time, Linley had a sullen face, and so did Roland.
The staff asked, "Are you guys sure to get the divorce, not on impulse? Do you need to go hand reconsider it?" For the first time, Linley couldn't stand the persuasion. She was firm, "I've been thinking about it for almost a year. Can you tolerate your husband abusing you and cheating on you?" The staff seemed to want to say something else, but Linley demanded, "Please get it done right away. | have to catch the train." Seeing that Linley was so determined, the staff said nothing more. She stamped the paper directly.
Roland was sitting beside her. His face looked awful.
After she got the divorce certificate, Linley didn't give a glance at Roland. She got up immediately and turned to leave.
