Probably because of the familiar fragrance and Chris's scent that lingered on the bed, Scarlett, who hadn't slept much in the past 20 hours, went out like a light.
By the tshe woke up, it was already dark. The room was pitch black.
She sat up and felt groggy. For a moment, she thought she was in the villa and habitually called out to Hilla.
Then Scarlett remembered that she was in Chris's apartment.
Scarlett rubbed her temples, sobered up, groped for the switch, and turned on the light.
The room lit up. Scarlett checked her phone and found that it was about 8 p.m.

Scarlett cout, saw the light on in the living room, and went over, only to see Chris reclining on the sofa, seemingly asleep.
A laptop was sitting on his lap. The screen was off.
Scarlett gingerly reached out her hand, trying to take the laptop away from Chris's hand and put it on the table.
As soon as the laptop was taken, Chris opened his eyes.
He looked at her, his dark eyes filled with confusion.
Scarlett put the laptop aside, saying," You're awake. It's around 8 p.m." Chris frowned, grabbed a bag on the sofa, handed it to Scarlett, and said, "New clothes are inside. Go take a shower. I'll get us something to eat." Scarlett glanced at him, nodded, and said," Okay." Although Chris and Chloe were not emotionally attached, they were bound by blood. Given Chloe's condition, Chris was probably feeling terrible in his heart.
Scarlett had a shower and felt much better.
When she cout of the bathroom, Chris had fried two steaks and made two cups of juice.
"I'll have vegetables bought and cook your favorite food tomorrow." When they were in Acatoca, Chris had learned that Scarlett didn’t quite like the local food.
Scarlett sat down across from him and said, "You don't have to trouble yourself with that." Given Chloe's condition, he didn't have tto waste on cooking.
Chris glanced at Scarlett and said, "It's alright." His obstinacy stopped her from making further comments.
After the simple dinner, Scarlett gazed at Chris's stubble and asked, "Aren't you going to take a shower?" Scarlett had a premonition that it would be a disturbing night.
Chris gulped down the juice, leaned back in the chair, and looked at her. After quite a while, he suddenly raised his hand and said, "Scarlett, chere." Probably because of Chloe's terrible condition, Chris hadn't slept well lately. His weary voice distressed Scarlett.

He lowered his head till his face was ten centimeters above her. His dark eyes were fixed on her.
Chris looked at Scarlett, raised his other hand to stroke her cheek, and then bent down to kiss her.
The kiss lasted for nearly three minutes before Chris let go of Scarlett. Then he held down her back and folded her in his arms.
Scarlett leaned against his shoulder and heard his heartbeat. Above her head, his gasp was light yet clear.
Scarlett's breathing was also disorderly. With her eyes closed, she quietly leaned against Chris’s torso.
As twent by, they were both silent, until the ringtone of Chris's cell phone disrupted the serenity in the room.
Chris glanced down at Scarlett, carried her to the sofa, and answered the phone, "It's me." The phone call cfrom Joseph. Chloe’s condition seemed to be critical. Per Secretary Emerson's instructions, Joseph called Chris and asked him to cto the hospital immediately.
