Chapter 34 Secrets

Elle's room.

Elle adjusted her night gown and then released the band on her hair, letting her blonde hair fall freely

on her back.

She then walked to the bed and lay on it, reminiscing on what happened earlier.

She sighed when she remembered her wild imaginations.

It was really scary.

Suddenly her phone rang and she groaned and took it. It was a video call. From Jason.

Her eyes widened and she sprang up.

"Oh my gosh! What do I do?"

"Why's he calling me?" She asked herself.

"Let's just pick it to find out.." She mumbled and then she cleared her throat. Then answered the call.

"Why are you calling this late?" She asked.

"Is it so late?' He asked with sarcasm.

"Oh! It's 11:30 PM. Isn't it so late?" Elle said.

"Don't flatter yourself. I just called to ask about the project.."

Elle smirked.

"This late?"

"Yeah, it's not so bad..' He replied and Elle shook her head.

"Just admit it, you called to see if I was fine.." Elle said and Jason sighed.

"Jason, what happened earlier! That video. Did you believe it?" Elle asked to see his reaction.

Jason went silent for a second.

"I honestly don't know.." He replied.

"I don't know what to believe or who to trust?" He mumbled.

"I should actually believe him cause I'm his son but then I.. " He paused and Elle smiled secretly.

"What about you?" He suddenly asked and she sighed.

"I don't know what to believe too but let's see I trust the governor.." She said and smiled.

The next day.

Mayor's Mansion.

Langford sat in the living room as he watched the tv.

Breaking news; The governor's party was ruined with a video allegedly exposing the governor's crime

and then also a gunshot was shot too, disrupting the party.."

"And this morning, the governor addressed all the rumours saying it was fake and it was made by

someone who threatened him…"

Soon a clip from the the interview with James was shown.

"I swear that all the rumours are not true. You all have seen what I have for the state and you know

how much i love you all, the citizens of this beautiful state. This is a work caused by opposing rival. He

looked for ways to get me but he couldn't and that's why he's using this tactic. I assure you all that you

can trust your governor…"

Langford took the remote and then switched the television off.

"I didn't have to do anything. The person made my life easy for me. You will ever regret making me

your enemy, James.." He said and then his phone rang. He sighed and walked to the sofa, he took it

and rolled his eyes when he saw that it was Lauren calling.

"This woman! What does she want this time?" He asked and then answered the call.

Her loud voice came and he groaned.

"How dare you? How dare you Langford? You tried to backstabb me and my husband in the back. Do

you have any idea on what you've done?'

"I don't know what you are talking about Lauren.." Langford smirked.

"Don't play dumb here. Have you forgotten the years we spent together, just because of a minor fight

you had with James. You decided to reveal his secrets, forgetting that we also have yours. Don't try to

mess with us!" She warned and he smirked.

"Don't forget I also have your secret with me. I mean our secret together, don't you forget that.." He

winked like he was seeing her.

"Wha.. what are you talking about?' She asked and he smirked.

"Don't play dumb. You know what I'm talking about. And for that video, I sincerely had nothing to do

about it. Come on, Lauren. We have known each other for years, you even knew me before you met

James. Do you really think I will lie about it?" He asked.

"Who's that?" James's voice was suddenly heard and Lauren's eyes widened.

"It's that bastard, right?" He yelled and snatched the phone from her.

"Wait.. wait.." Lauren was trying to say but he stopped her with the wave of his hand. Lauren gulped

hard immediately.

"You bastard.."

"You think you can deceive me. You can deceive anyone else except me!" James yelled at him and he

chuckled.

"Jay, I didn't have anything to do with that video.." Lanford said.

"Oh really! I told you can't deceive me and don't you worry, with this step you have made. Expect the

monster out of me. I won't make life easy for you in any way.." He yelled and Langford scoffed.

"Don't try to mess with me too. We both have each other secrets. I'll make sure you reveal it if you

reveal mine.." He said.

"And besides, I have a very special secret that your beautiful wife knows about. You can ask her?"

Lanford said and James paused and turned to look at Lauren who was already trembling.

"What do you mean? What do you mean you fool? What secret are you talking about?!" He yelled and

Langford chuckled.

"I told you. Ask her yourself. See you later, Jay.." He said and hung up.

James turned to Lauren immediately, looking at her coldly.

"What secret is he talking about?" He asked gently and then Lauren moved back trembling.

"W.. what are you taking about? We have no secret! He's just lying to you! I don't what he's talking

about?"

"You clearly know. You are lying to me. You are trembling. For the last time, tell me the secret that you

are hiding from me!" He yelled and Lauren busted into fresh tears.

"I'm really not lying Hun. You are making me scared. Hun.." She says and tried to touch him but he

pushed her back.

"Do you really want to see me mad? You know how I can be when I'm mad. You know!" He yelled and

Lauren started crying the more.

"I'll tell you.." She whispered.
