Dominic’s roses “Hey, Athy!” “Hey, Athena!”
Suzanne and Patricia greeted her at the same time as soon as they saw her. They both were in the
garden, plucking flowers from there. Athena walked toward them after noticing them. “Hey, Suzy. Hey,
Patricia. How are you both doing?” Athena asked in a low tone as she picked u p a yellow rose from the
basket where the girls just put the fļowers. “We are good but what’s wrong with you?” Suzanne asked
with a frown as she noticed a small frown on Athena’s face.
“Yeah, what’s wrong? You look worried about something. Your mood seems a little down as well.”
Patricia added after Suzanne with a small frown as well.
“Well, I will let you guys guess and give you guys a hint.” Athena said with an annoyed look on her face.
Suzanne and Patricia looked at each other in confusion before looking back at Athena. “The black cat
came to my way twice today.” Just after Athena completed her sentence, realisation immediately drew
upon on their faces.
“Stacey!”
“That too twice!”
“What bad luck!”
“I pity you.” Suzanne and Patricia said one after another with pitiful looks on their faces. Athena looked at
them with a frown before putting the rose back on the basket.
“Whatever, what are you guys doing?” Athena asked as she saw around ten baskets filled with various
roses. But surprisingly there wasn’t one red rose on those baskets. She looked around to find a section
of the garden filled with red roses. Immediately a smile came to her face seeing that. She loved red

roses. They are so beautiful and fascinating that she gets lost whenever she sees a red rose. And here
was a full garden filled with red roses. She couldn’t stop herself from going there. “Stacey
wants her party to be decorated with real flowers, not any artificial flowers. And she wants them to
be specifically from Dominic‘s garden.” Patricia explained. “That’s why we are plucking flowers from here
for decoration.” Suzanne added after her. They both were concentrating on plucking the flowers
carefully and delicately. They didn‘t want the flowers to lose petals nor they want to get hurt but the
thorns of the roses. So they didn’t realise where Athena was going.
“But why aren’t there any red roses?” Athena asked as she sat down near the red rose section carefully.
She slowly ran her hands over the flowers in fascination. “Well, Dominic doesn’t want Stacey to use red
roses. Anything but that. Well, he doesn’t want
anyone to touch his red ros-…”
“Ahhh!”
Patricia could hardly complete her sentence when they heard Athena’s voice hissing out. They stopped
what they were doing and looked at her with widened eyes. They were shocked would be an
understatement when they saw a rose in her one hand and her one finger was bleeding badly. She just
pricked her finger while plucking a RED rose from Dominic’s garden!
“Oh my god, Athena! What did you do?” Patricia exclaimed in shock. Athena put her injured finger in her
mouth before looking at them with a frown..
“What? I just picked a rose. Damn! The thorn was sharp.” She hissed as she sucked the blood from her
finger. She looked down at her finger before looking back at the rose and immediately a smile came up
to her face. “The flower is beautiful, right?” She asked while looking up at her shocked friends.
“Oh my god, Athy. Forbidden things are always beautiful.” Suzanne said in a worried tone.
“Forbidden?” Athena looked confused by their reactions.
What’s wrong? She just picked one flower out of maybe thousands. What’s wrong with that? Why are
they overreacting? “Yes, Athena. Forbidden. Dominic made those red roses forbidden for everyone. No
one can touch them. Not even his mate, Stacy. And here you picked one. And you want us not to freak
out?” Patricia asked in a worried tone. Athena looked at them in confusion.
“Calm down, girls. It’s just one rose. I am sure it will be okay. And even if he decides to punish me, I will
handle it. Don’t worry.” Athena assured them but they weren’t ready.
“I just hope no one saw you picking it up.” Suzanne said with a sigh.
“Forget all this. Do you guys need any help?” Athena asked after tucking the rose in her hair and looked
at them as if nothing happened.
“No, it’s okay. We got this.” Patricia answered with a sigh.
“Fine then. I will go to the mall.” Athena said and was going to leave but Suzanne stopped her.
“Mall? Why?” She asked in confusion.
“Oh, well, Ace was craving some chocolate chip cookies made by me. I am going to the market t o make
them. From that, I remember. I was wondering if I could use one of your kitchens?” Athena asked with a
raised eyebrow. “Our kitchen? Why? What happened to Dominic‘s kitchen?” Patricia asked in confusion.
“Stacey forbade me from entering there.” Athena answered with a roll of her eyes.
“That girl! You can use my kitchen.” Suzanne replied with a sigh. Athena looked at her thankfully. “I
remember that you didn‘t buy a dress for yourself for the party. Don’t forget to buy one today. The party is
tomorrow.” Suzanne remembered and Athena nodded at her. “I remember that.” Athena replied before
turning around to leave when Suzanne stopped her

once again. “Wait, take the card before you leave.” Suzanne said and was going to get up to get
something but Athena stopped her.. “What card?” She asked in confusion.
“Credit card. How are you going to buy the things?” Suzanne asked with a small smile before taking up
her purse and brought out the card. She forwarded it toward Athena but Athena didn’t take it. She
pushed it away toward Suzanne in a polite manner.
“I am sorry but I can’t take it, Suzy. Don’t worry, I still have a few dollars with me which you gave me last
day. I can manage with that.” She said with a small smile. “Don’t be childish, Athy. That was hardly a few
bucks. You may get the cookie ingredients by that but not a dress. You will need it. Keep it.” Suzanne
said in a stern tone but Athena was stubborn. She pushed it back again.
“Don’t worry, I will manage. Also, I am planning to look for jobs today. I know I won’t get paid today only
but don’t worry. I will manage. But if I don‘t, I know where to find you. So, don’t worry. I will go now as I
have to come back soon as well to help in the party preparation.” Athena said with a small smile and
turned around to leave. Suzanne let out a sigh because she knew she couldn’t win against Athena. She
looked at Patricia and found her worried about something else. But before she could ask, Patricia called
and stopped Athena.
“Athena, as much as the rose looks like it was made to be in your hair only, I don’t think it’s a good idea
to flaunt that like this.” Patricia said in a worried tone. Athena turned around and touched the flower in
her shiny long hair. She smiled. “Don’t worry, I think I can bear a little for the beautiful rose.” Athena said
with a smile before turning around to leave. Patricia and Suzanne could only look at each other worriedly.
They were unaware that someone was seeing all that happened from far away. (Hello, dear
