"What do you have to say for yourself?" Daniel, who was not easy to coax, didn't even turn around. "How many
times have I told you? No staying up late! You clearly haven't taken my words seriously, have you?!"
"Daniel..."
Maisie's face nuzzled against his broad back, her voice tender as she spoke. "I was wrong, okay? I won't stay up late
again... I just really want to do this well, in case something unexpected happens. I don't want to end up with
nothing."
Daniel's heart melted instantly. He was only worried about her, so he did not blame her. Upon hearing her say this,
he quickly turned around. Seeing her standing barefoot on the floor, he scooped her up like a princess and gently
placed her on the sofa.

"I know you want to do well." He held her hand. "But your health is more important, right?"
Maisie nodded quickly.
"If you continue to neglect your health and stay up every night, then I'll have to move in with you to supervise you!"
He teased her with a smirk.
Maisie knew exactly what he was up to, so she blushed slightly and pushed him.
"Do you want something to eat now?"
"Not really..." Maisie stretched lazily. "I'm still a bit sleepy. I want to sleep some more."
"Okay."
Daniel tucked her in, gently closing the bedroom door and instructing the hotel staff not to disturb them.
However, being alone in the suite was a bit boring for him. Left with nothing else to do, he ended up at the desk.
Seeing that her computer was still on, he thought of turning it off for her. When he was about to do it, he
accidentally noticed the manuscript she had been editing.
He furrowed his brows. Honestly, he was curious to know what she had written and why she kept revising it
repeatedly without success. If he could help her by taking a look or figuring out the problem...
After some contemplation, Daniel sat at the desk and began to read attentively. However, a particular segment
caught him off guard.
[She started to become erratic, not recognizing him. She still fantasized that the child was in her belly, a five-
month-old fetus. She often touched her stomach, smiling as she asked the doctor why her belly wasn't showing
after five months...]
Tiny beads of sweat dotted Daniel's nose. This had been... her condition after the miscarriage, hadn't it?

He continued flipping through the pages, finding many details resembling her state when her mental health hadn't
been good.
Daniel's heart fell with a thud. His knuckles turned white as he gripped the mouse. Could she have remembered
something?
At that moment, his phone suddenly rang. Startled, he refocused and saw Lily's name on the screen.
"Hello, it's me!" Lily's voice came through. "Are you with Maisie now? I'd like to talk to you for a bit. You better keep
this from her."
"Uh... She stayed up late last night working on her manuscript and is currently asleep." Daniel glanced at the
bedroom, then walked to the balcony, making sure to close the sliding door.
"Do you need something?"
"It's not anything urgent." Lily hesitated. "Well, I'll just be straightforward... As Camila's cousin, how well do you
know her as a person?"
Daniel squinted, lowering his voice. "What do you mean by that?"
