A car of the Quimby family?
Daniel froze. "Whose?"
"Judging from the license plate, it seems to be... from your second uncle's household."
"What?"
Daniel frowned. His second uncle's family had always kept to themselves, never meddling in any family or group
matters. They simply enjoyed the benefits of the Quimbys without questioning anything.
So why would his car appear at the hospital?
Daniel, who was puzzled, could only instruct his subordinates to keep a close eye on it.
Maisie slept extremely restlessly, plagued by one strange dream after another. In her dreams, she returned to that
small vintage house and heard the cries of a baby upstairs...
She woke up with a start, drenched in sweat, her pillow already wet.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtConcerned about her health, Daniel informed Lily, asking her to let Maisie rest for a few more days. Lily, who
understood, adjusted the contract terms and extended Maisie's submission deadline.
Despite making that change, she was puzzled. Why would Maisie suddenly end up like this?
Daniel told her that Maisie had encountered a pregnant woman.
Lily looked perplexed. "Why did she happen to run into that kind of thing? It's such a coincidence!"
"Yes." Daniel's expression darkened. "I've already ordered an investigation. That pregnant woman seems
suspicious."
"I have always thought that it's better to kill a thousand by mistake than let one slip through!" Lily smiled. "Perhaps
it's extreme, but when it comes to protecting someone, it's not excessive. That's why I support your actions!"
"Thank you."
"If there's anything I can help with, feel free to ask."
As soon as Lily finished speaking, someone knocked on the office door.
Camila walked in with a smile, reporting the latest work progress.
"The main problem of the manuscript hasn't been solved," Lily said after listening, looking at Camila.
"Tell me, why has progress been so slow?"
"It's... It's my fault." Camila apologized, her face full of regret. "I haven't handled Maisie well. Don't blame her."
"Did I blame her?"
"Yes, yes, it's all my fault!" Camila said hastily. "I didn't guide her properly, which led to her procrastination. I have
been negligent."
Lily frowned, then chuckled. Thanks to her extensive experience, she could detect her b*tchy undertone.
She looked down at her cup and couldn't help but chuckle again. Racheal was really a prophet. She had prepared a
relative mug in advance for her.
Judging from Camila's recent work performance, however, she was dedicated and impeccable. Besides, she had
previously created several bestselling authors and pulled off outstanding achievements. If there were any

Perhaps, Maisie's situation had been just an accident?
Lily pondered it for a moment and said softly, "Let me read the manuscript carefully to see what the problem is."
"No need for that." Camila smiled.
"Why? I'm lightening your workload!"
"There's not much of an issue, actually!" Camila said. "You're so busy, Ms. Reyes. Letting you review the manuscript
would be adding to your workload. It's really my responsibility."
Lily waved her hand. "It's all about work. There's no right or wrong."
"Yes, it's all about work." Camila spoke clearly. "Ms. Reyes, this is why there's really no need for you to read it. The
fact that you've hired me and pay me such a high salary shows that you trust my abilities, so rest assured. I won't
let you down!"
"You..."
Before Lily could finish speaking, Camila bowed quickly and left the office with a smile.
