Sonya shook her head. He was clearly drunk and delirious.

Inside, Julian Jennings winced in pain, clutching his stomach. His irregular sleep and drinking had aggravated his
gastritis.
Sonya would have nagged him to take care of himself.
His medicine cabwas empty, but the kitchen drawer held her recipe for soothing soup.
"Sonya, you think I'll die without you? | can make this soup myself. It's easy," he muttered, starting to prepare it.
She'd left enough ingredients.
It was still difficult and painful.
His alarm rang. He glanced at the dark living room-a haunted house now that he was alone.
