Chapter 1535
Sherry rolled her sleeves up and went out of the house.
A while later, she arrived at Madam Stockton’s front yard. The gate remained open, but there was no one in sight,
so she took the liberty to go up to the front door.
She saw Madam Stockton happily feeding Caprice fruits. The girl basically ate everything her grandmother put in
her mouth, and she looked adorable.
Julie was also sitting opposite them.
When the maid noticed Sherry’s arrival, she told Madam Stockton, “Madam, Ms. Fowler is here.”
Both Madam Stockton and Julie turned to Sherry together.
Caprice also saw her mother. Her eyes gleamed. She stopped eating and said, ” Mommy…” Her tiny chubby hands
reached out to Sherry, seemingly asking for a hug. Madam Stockton’s expression turned grim, and her brows

Julie caught her change in expression and her eyes flickered. She then smiled at Sherry and said, “Ms. Fowler,
Caprice isn’t done eating. Why don’t you let her finish the fruits?”
“I’m done,” Caprice said without a second thought.
Julie’s smile froze.
Sherry walked over to Caprice with a smile and disregarded Julie. She said to Madam Stockton, “Madam Stockton,
Caprice said she’s done. I’m here to bring her back.”
Madam Stockton gave her the cold shoulder and silent treatment, but she released the girl from her arms.
Sherry then took Caprice into her arms. The girl leaned on her mother’s shoulder and curled her hands around the
neck.
Then, Julie said, “Ms. Fowler, it’s been days since Mother saw Caprice. Why don’t you leave her here for a little
longer, for John’s sake? You can pick her up later.”
Sherry frowned.
For John’s sake? Why?
Did it mean that if she insisted on taking Caprice away, it would be disrespectful to
John and also Madam Stockton?
Sherry looked at Julie and saw her polite and friendly smile. Her lips twitched helplessly. Just when she was
arranging her words to retort, Madam Stockton said, ” Caprice already had dinner with me. It’s getting late. You
should bring Caprice back to rest.”
Despite her grumpy look, Madam Stockton’s tone sounded rather gentle. Sherry was surprised by the old lady’s
words, and so was Julie.
The atmosphere went silent momentarily before Sherry regained her composure. She said to Caprice, “Caprice, say
goodbye to Grandma.”
Caprice obediently said, “Bye–bye, Grandma.”

After Sherry left with Caprice, the living room returned to awkward silence.
Madam Stockton stared at Julie with a stern look. “Julie, what was that?”
Julie’s eyes flickered. She said, “Mother, I was just trying to make her leave Caprice here for a little longer so that
you can spend more time with her.”
“I really do want to spend more time with Caprice, but can’t you see that Caprice already wants to leave? If I want
Caprice to stay, I can tell her myself, and I won’t simply hand her back either.”
Julie immediately said, “I’m sorry, Mother.”
“Hmph. Remember not to say something like this again. It made me look like I was trying to threaten Sherry with
my status and position.”
Julie frowned. “I understand. I’ll be mindful of my words.”
“I’m going to rest. You should go back as well.”
“Okay. Goodnight, Mother.” Julie got up and left the house.
After she left, Madam Stockton asked the maid, “Don’t you think that there’s
something wrong with Julie today?”
