Chapter 1858
“Liam, what brings you here?” she asked with an endearing smile.
Liam leaned comfortably against the backseat with his arms crossed in front of him, his voice cool as usual.
“Checking up on you for your parents.”
Caprice made a face.
Liam glanced at the bag she had slung over her shoulders. “What’s your plan?”
“I don’t know.” She had only just quit her job and hadn’t figured out her next move.
He asked, “Are you still looking for a job?”
She admitted quite frankly, “I have no idea.”
Liam dropped the matter and turned to the driver. “Drive.”
The driver promptly stepped on the gas pedal. They arrived at Sparkrow University girls’ dormitory shortly after
that.
Caprice was going to leave when Liam suddenly remarked, “Come to me if you’re looking for a job.”
“Alright, I got it,” she responded politely.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThen, she got out of the car and marched into the dorm.
Liam watched her from inside the car. The only thing on his mind was the imagery of the man walking Caprice out
of the building just now. That man was probably the senior that Caprice talked about, the one who had invited her
to work for him.
Caprice went back to her room and threw herself on the bed.
She lay in bed until evening.
She received a message from Moses. He regretfully informed her that he had something urgent come up and had
no choice but to postpone their dinner for the next time.
Caprice was very understanding, and she replied curtly, “It’s alright. Don’t worry about it.”
Moses apologized again before heading back to work.
Then, her parents called. They were checking up on her and asked about how her first two days
back in Westchester went.
Caprice did not tell them anything about what happened in Elysian House. She swerved the topic to some other
inconsequential subject. She talked to them for a while before hanging up.
Shortly after that, Freya returned. She made sure to buy takeout for Caprice.
They put on variety shows to watch while eating. After the meal, she whiled away her time on the phone before
falling asleep around midnight.
She spent the next few days lazing around in the dorm.
One day, she slept until noon before waking up naturally.
The first thing she did was to reach for her phone. She scrolled through her feed and immediately saw a new post
by Heather.
It was captioned: “Carter Tech City is open to the public from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. today. If anyone of you would
like to tour the city, make sure you bring a reservation slip.”
As usual, a picture of the city was attached to the post.
Caprice briefly glanced through the post before scrolling past it.
She found herself stalking Liam’s profile again.
Over the last few days, every post he made was very brief and contained only one sentence at most. He was either
working or working overtime.
Each post was made along with pictures of the view from inside his office, as usual.
He would post during the day, with sunlight flooding the room, offering the room a warm and energetic ambiance.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmOtherwise, he would post at nighttime and show the city basked in glittering spotlights.
His office looked very nice, even homely. During his leisure time, he would watch movies or read a book while
enjoying a snack.
Ding!
She received a text from Heather.
“Caprice, how are things at work? Are you adapting well enough?”
She frowned when she read the text.
Quite frankly, she nearly forgot that the reason she came back to Westchester at all was that she had picked up a
job. A job that lasted all of one day.
She took a deep breath and replied, “It’s fine. My manager and colleagues are very nice to me.”
Heather replied, “That’s good to know. By the way, do you have time today? Carter Tech City today is open to the
public today, and Isabel Ross, the famous celebrity is going to be visiting as well. Our reservation is filled, but I can
let you in as a special guest.”
Caprice groaned.
