Chapter 33

Yoel’s phone rang. When he noticed it was Jayleen, he turned around and said, “Mr. Neal, it’s Ms. Shaw.”

“That’s none of my concern,” Joshua snapped at him. He was in a foul mood. “Don’t you know I can’t contact her

now?”

Yoel remained silent and continued driving, planning to reply to the message when they returned.

Meanwhile, Cynthia returned to the hospital after leaving Joshua.

Mr. Yates was still waiting for her in the ward.

Despite having a distant relationship with Cynthia, he was still her father, and he wanted to care for her and did not

want to see her being bullied.

After waiting for half an hour, Shirley got impatient and discussed with Mr. Yates, “After Cynthia comes back, we

must find out why she and Joshua are divorcing and not let Cynthia suffer in vain.”

“Okay,” Mr. Yates agreed.

Just as they were about to say more, the door opened, and Cynthia walked in, still with the

same calm expression as before. It was as if her anger toward Joshua earlier was all just a show.

“Cynthia.”

“Cyn.”

The two of them spoke together.

Cynthia was confused by their complex expressions. Then, she closed the door and asked, ” What’s the matter?”

Knowing that her father was not good at asking, Shirley took the initiative to speak up. “Why are you getting a

divorce? Don’t try to fool me with the excuse of incompatibility!”

Cynthia hesitated. She had wanted to hide the truth, but seeing the expressions on their faces, she decided to tell

them. “His ex–lover came back.”

“What?” Shirley and Mr. Yates were shocked.

Cynthia placed her phone aside to charge and sat in front of Mr. Yates.

“Isn’t this also incompatible? He asked for a divorce, and I agreed.”

“Are you joking?” Shirley was baffled.

Cynthia raised an eyebrow. “No.”

“Did he hurt his head as a kid? Is his sight okay? He gave up on an excellent person like you and chose his ex–

lover?” Shirley was in disbelief.

Cynthia did not respond.

Whether it was an ex–lover or the one that got away, both used to be important people to the parties involved.

Chapter 32

“Do you think she’s right?” Joshua asked.

“Well…”

Could he really say yes?

“If she doesn’t care about money, why did she ask for so much when we filed for divorce?” Joshua felt as if his

surroundings had turned colder. It sounded like he was trying to convince himself. “What she says sounds noble, but

in reality, it’s all the same.”

Yoel hesitated, but he thought he needed to speak what was on his mind.

“I don’t think Mrs. Neal is that kind of person.”

“She’s really good at manipulating people. Even you fell for it.” Joshua’s tone was cold, and his impression of

Cynthia grew worse.

Yoel was nervous, but he remained calm and analyzed the situation.

“According to our country’s law, the post–marital property belongs to both husband and wife, so it’s normal for Mrs.

Neal to ask for half.”

He did not dare to say that even the second young master thought what Mrs. Neal did was right.

“I didn’t ask for anything from her.”

“That’s because you didn’t want it.”

Joshua suddenly scolded, “Yoel!”

“Mr. Neal, let me say something you may not want to hear.” Yoel bit the bullet and continued, not wanting Joshua to

have a twisted moral compass, “You had an affair first, and Mrs. Neal was already kind enough not to kick you out

of the house.”

Joshua asked, “When did I have an affair?”

Yoel kept a straight face and did not dare to answer.

Joshua became angrier.

“This is ridiculous!” Mr. Yates became angry.

Cynthia looked at him.

Mr. Yates immediately lost his temper and could only ask, “How did you even fall for him in the first place?”

“He’s good–looking,” Cynthia replied simply.

As it turned out, good looks alone could not sustain a relationship.

Mr. Yates was speechless.

Shirley silently sighed. She knew Cynthia was someone who valued appearance, voice, figure, and even hands.

Mr. Yates asked all the important concerns, “So, how far along are you in the divorce process?”

“We’ve filed the application, and we’ll get the divorce certificate as soon as the cooling–off period is over,” Cynthia

revealed.

“You should definitely get the divorce certificate!” Shirley had no sympathy for jerks.

“Such a jerk doesn’t deserve to be with you. He’s trash, a jerk, and a disgrace!”
