Chapter 52
Izzy stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her face was unnaturally red, and she didn’t have to ask herself why.
She then splashed cold water on her face, her palms pressing against the edges of the sink as she stared at her
reflection for the umpteenth time. Her cheeks were still flushed, her lips slightly swollen from the kiss that
seemed to have burned its way into her memory.
She groaned sofily, running her damp hands through her hair. Cet it together, Izzy,” she muttered under her
breath. “It was just a kiss. A stupid, impulsive kiss.”
But it wasn’t just a kiss. The weight of it still lingered on her lips, and the memory of Liam's steady hand on her
back, the way he pulled her closer like it was the most natural thing in the world-it all made her heart race.
She grabbed a nearby towel and dabbed her face dry, hoping the redness would disappear. She leaned closer to
the mirror, inspecting her reflection. The blush was stubborn, refusing to fade. Another splash of water didn’t
help either.
Then, a soft knock at the door startled her.
“Izzy?” Liam's voice cthrough, calm and steady. “Are you alright?”
Her eyes widened as she stared at the closed door. She wasn’t ready to face him, not yet. But she couldn't
exactly ignore him either. Taking a deep breath, she tossed the towel onto the counter and moved toward the
door. She unlocked it and opened. it cautiously.
Liam stood there, leaning casually against the doorframe, his damp hair tousled from a quick rinse and a faint
sheen of sweat still clinging to his skin. He glanced at her, his eyes flicking over her flushed face.
Izzy blinked, unsure of what to say. She started to step to the left to slip past him, but Liam shifted in the same
direction, blocking her path. Her brows furrowed slightly as she moved to the right. He mirrored her again.
Her frustration mixed with embarrassment as she tried once more to the left, and once more, he blocked her
with a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
“Liam,” she said, her voice sharp.

“What's wrong?” he asked, his hand coming up to gently steady her by the shoulder.
Izzy froze, her breath catching. His hand was warm, firm, grounding her in a way that made her head spin. She
looked up at him, her eyes locking with his. She didn’t even notice how beautiful his eyes were under the dim
lighting.
“Nothing's wrong,” she said quickly, though the heat rushing to her cheeks betrayed her.
Liam tilted his head slightly, studying her “You sure? You seem little..” He gestured toward her face, his hand
brushing lightly against her cheek. “Flushed.”
“I'm fine,” Izzy said, pulling back slightly, though her body refused to move far from his. She cleared her throat
and tried to focus on the room behind him instead of the intensity of his gaze. “It's just hot in here.”
Liam raised an eyebrow but didn't argue. He stepped aside, giving her room to pass. She moved quickly, trying
to escape the tension that seemed to follow them everywhere.
But before she could make it far, his voice stopped her. “Izzy.”
She turned, meeting his gaze again. His expression was softer now, less guarded. “Are you okay?” he asked.
She hesitated, her heart thudding in her chest. There were so many things she wanted to say, so many questions
she didn’t dare to voice. But instead, she just nodded. “I'm fine,” she said again, more quietly this time.

in didn’t push her further. He nodded once and stepped back letting her go.
“Izzy Liam's voice stopped her in her tracks once more.
“Hm” She turned, her gaze meeting his.
He hesitated, the silence stretching just long enough to make her heart race. Then, with calm confidence, he
said, “I like kissing you.”

Her eyes widened, her lips parting as if to respond, but no words came. She stood frozen, watching as he turned
and stepped into the bathroom, the door clicking shut behind him.
Alone in the quiet hallway, Izzy exhaled a shaky breath she hadnt realized she was holding.
Izzy stilled, her feet rooted to the spot as her mind replayed Liam's words. “I like kissing you.” The casual
confidence in his tone echoed in her head. Her cheeks are heating up again, the blush creeping down her neck.
She blinked, willing herself to move, to think, to say something. But instead, she stood there, staring at the
closed bathroom door as if it might offer her an explanation. Her hand absentmindedly touched her lips, her
fingers brushing against the faint warmth that still lingered there.
Her heart fluttered-a mix of nerves and something she didn’t dare name. She let out a small, shaky breath and
muttered to herself, “I liked it too.”
A soft smile tugged at the corners of her lips, one she couldn't quite suppress no matter how hard she tried. She
shook her head, her hair falling over her shoulder as she turned and walked toward the staircase.
Her steps were slower now, more measured. The mansion seemed quieter, the distant hum of the city outside
the only sound accompanying her.
WEISS MANSION
Calen sat stiffly on one of the leather armchairs in the Weiss mansion’s grand sitting room, pressing a cold
compress to the side of his face. The dull ache from the punch Liam had landed wasn’t half as bad as the sting of
humiliation that cwith it. His mother, elegantly poised on the chaise longue across from him, was staring at
him with a mixture of irritation and
concem.
“You're just going to sit there and do nothing?” Cecil Weiss asked her eyes narrowing as she turned her attention
to Mr. Weiss, who was leafing through a newspaper with deliberate slowness. “That man assaulted your son. Are
we really going to let that go?”

Mr. Weiss didn’t look up, calmly folding the paper and setting it on the table. “Do you really want us to make this
public?” he asked. “Because I've seen the camera footage from Izzy's office. Do you want the entire board and
press to know what Calen did to provoke that punch!”
Mrs. Weiss’s eyes widened slightly, but she recovered quickly, he lips thinning into a sharp line. He's your son.
You're just going to let someone like Liam Horvath humiliate him?”
Mr. Weiss leaned back in his chair. “Do you know who we're talking about? That's Liam Horvath. He's not just
supstart. His influence stretches across continents. And let's not forget, he wasn’t in Izzy's office for no
reason. He's here because of you and that ridiculous auction.”
Mrs. Weiss bristled, her hogers tightening on the armrest of her hair. “That auction was meant to support charity
and fuster connections. How was | supposed to know he'd take an interest in Isabella?”
“Well, he did,” Mr Weiss said. “And from what | can see, his interest goes far beyond business. We don’t need a
public spectacle. Liam Horvath isn’t the kind of man you pick a fight with, especially when he has the moral high
ground. You

misunderstanding.”
Calen shifted uncomfortably, the compress slipping slightly from his hand. “Misunderstanding? So you're just
going to let him get away with it?” he muttered.
“Get away with what, exactly? Punching you for what you did to Izzy? Tell me, Calen, why were you in her office,
drunk, on a Saturday?” Mrs. Weiss asked, his eyes narrowed.
Calen said nothing, his gaze darkening as he thought about what happened in Izzy's office.
