Chapter 579
Esther struggled to help Bradley lie down on the hospital bed and pressed the emergency button for assistance.
She then ensured she looked presentable.
“Nurse, I have a patient with late–stage liver cancer here who fainted. Please notify a hepatologist to come
quickly,” she urged.
Esther maintained remarkable composure, fully aware that panic was not an option.
After informing the nursing station, she called Kevin.
“Kevin, Bradley coughed up blood and fainted. What should we do?” she asked.
Kevin exclaimed, “He coughed up blood again?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Yes,” Esther confirmed.
Kevin anxiously pressed, “Did he cough up a significant amount of blood?”
“It was quite a lot.”
Kevin’s tone grew somber. “Esther, brace yourself mentally. If we can’t perform a liver transplant soon, the
prognosis may not be favorable.”
“I’ll check with… I’ll check with Mandy.” Esther was willing to do anything for Mandy should she decide to donate her
liver.
Kevin sighed deeply. “Have the doctor administer medication to him first.”
“Okay.”
Doctors and nurses swiftly arrived, and Bradley was transported to the emergency room.
Felix, who had been sitting obediently outside the room, burst into tears upon seeing the unconscious Bradley and
Esther’s blood–stained face. “Mommy!”
Esther held Felix’s hand, providing comfort. “Don’t be afraid, Felix. Mommy is okay.”
“Did Daddy faint?” Felix asked.
Esther nodded gently, continuing to hold Felix’s hand as they followed the medical staff into the emergency room.
“Felix, listen to Mommy. Uncle Kevin says Daddy has late–stage liver cancer. His erratic behavior may have been a
symptom of his illness, but we didn’t recognize it then.”
Esther felt an overwhelming sense of guilt. She wondered if Bradley’s liver had started failing five years ago and
whether it was her fault for not realizing it sooner.
“Mommy, can Daddy get better?” Felix asked.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmEsther tenderly stroked Felix’s hair and reassured him, “Yes, as long as he receives a liver transplant, he can
recover.”
Then let’s ask Uncle Kevin to do the surgery for Daddy quickly!” Felix, being a child, didn’t grasp the gravity of liver
transplantation and didn’t realize it wasn’t a simple solution.
“Uncle Kevin is currently searching for a suitable liver…”
Felix looked at Esther, sensing her worry, and asked, “Can my liver save Daddy?”
“You… No!” Esther ran her hand through Felix’s hair. “You’re still too young for such a surgery.” i
Partially understanding, Felix inquired, “When I grow up, can I give my liver to Daddy?”
“Yes.” Esther’s eyes welled up with tears at Felix’s earnest desire to save Bradley. She understood they were equally
important to Felix.
“So you must eat, sleep, and exercise more…”
“Okay,” Felix replied solemnly. “I’ll be good, Mommy.”
Kevin rushed over, his anxiety evident.
