It illuminated everything, as bright as daylight.
“Dr. Slade, look…”
Kevin swiftly glanced at the distant sky. In the midst of howling winds, an unsteady helicopter was approaching the
hospital rooftop.
“Get ready,” Kevin ordered, and the whole team stood poised.
Bradley gripped the controls with intense focus, struggling to keep the helicopter steady. The dashboard’s alarms
blared, but he paid no attention to them.
The fierce wind and heavy rain made standing difficult for anyone.
Finally, to the team’s anxious anticipation, the helicopter landed smoothly on the hospital rooftop.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKevin led his team forward and saw Bradley carrying the unconscious Esther.
“What’s happening, Bradley?” Kevin asked sharply, examining Esther’s lifeless appearance.
Bradley glared and retorted, “I’ll explain later.”
Esther was rushed into the operating room with all the hospital experts assembled.
Drenched from the rain, Bradley sat in a well-lit conference room and demanded, “Tell me, how can she be
treated?”
A brain specialist began, “Mr… Mr. Warner, your wife has suffered a head injury, and the delay in getting her here is
significant. Unfortunately—”
Bradley grabbed a glass from the table and hurled it.
“Are you suggesting my wife is in the hands of incompetence?”
As the hospital director, Kevin had to defend his doctors. He stood up and firmly faced Bradley’s interrogation.
“Bradley, we are doctors, not gods. You know why Esther got injured. Head injuries have an optimal window for
treatment, and the longer the delay, the less certain the chances of success.
“I don’t know where you hid Esther, but if anything happens to her, it’s your responsibility. Instead of blaming us,
consider how things reached this point.”
Bradley snarled, “Kevin, as the hospital director—”
Kevin slammed his work ID on the table and interrupted, “Even if I weren’t the hospital director, I’d still stand up for
Esther. Your selfishness, arrogance, and recklessness show you don’t deserve anyone’s respect or love.”
Kevin left his scathing remark and exited the conference room. The experts there were unsure of what to do.

Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKevin took a deep breath and dialed Agatha’s number outside the room.
“Dr. Foster, it’s Kevin. Bradley brought Esther to the hospital, but her condition is grave. I’ll send you the medical
details. If possible, bring Felix. I’m worried…”
Kevin choked up, unable to finish his sentence.
After the call to Agatha, Kevin phoned Jasper.
“Jasper, it’s me. Esther… She—”
Jasper interrupted, “What happened? Did Bradley harm Esther again? Never mind, I’m coming right away.”
After making these two calls, Kevin returned to the conference room with the latest examination results.
“Bradley, these are Esther’s recent medical records. Read and understand the severity of her condition.”
Bradley examined the records, his gaze darkening at a particular line. “What does this mean?”
Kevin sneered. “It’s a critical condition notice. Can’t you read?”
