Suddenly, a sharp pain radiated from Bradley’s heart. He instinctively clutched the edge of the crystal coffin, his
keen eyes locking onto Esther’s emotionless face.
“Esther!”
Esther’s eyes were cold, lacking the human warmth one would expect. “Is there anything else you wish to

Esther took the fork and diligently consumed all the fruits and nuts. She was remarkably obedient.
After all the fruits and nuts had disappeared, Bradley gently caressed Esther’s face and spoke softly. “Good girl.”
As Bradley touched Esther’s face, her expression remained calm, devoid of displeasure or impatience.

Mandy strolled into the dining room, dressed in a silk camisole nightgown and slippers. “Bradley, having snacks?
Was dinner unsatisfactory?”
Mandy pretended not to know. Bradley typically wouldn’t have snacks—he must be taking them for Esther.
Mandy glanced at the empty fruit platter and inwardly raised her eyebrows in triumph. ‘Esther, oh Esther! I
deliberately included two types of fruits and nuts you’re allergic to in this platter. You should be experiencing an
allergic reaction by now!’
