Chapter 88
"You ungrateful brat," she hissed. "After all | did for you, this is how you repay me?" "Excuse me? What did you

sister's advice-heading for the staircase.
Lana had emptied and refilled her glass again. Alcohol was bad for the baby, but fuck it; she didn't care.
"Do you even know how messed up my life has been?" She turned around, attacking her mother who was
already on the staircase. "It's been hell, woman! I've beca laughingstock and can't even hang out with my
friends anymore! People say | wasn't good enough to keep Kage despite being pregnant for him!"
She walked away from the bar but didn't get close to Rebecca. "Sometimes, | wish | had a different mother.
Perhaps, she'd have advisedto let go of my obsession with Kage, and then | wouldn't be in this much of a
mess right now." Taking the glass from the counter, she smashed it on the floor, then walked away.

Sylvie was on the edge as she sat in the small room. There were only two chairs in the room.-one of which she
occupied- with a table in-between.
She continued glancing at the only window in the room, anticipating the moment he'd show up. She was doing
the right thing-she constantly told herself.
Kage didn't know she was there, and she didn't want to imagine what his reaction would be if he ever got to
know. But she had to do this to get it off her chest.
Finally, the moment came. She took a deep breath when the door opened and the cop led Westley into the room.
When their eyes met, she felt something akin to guilt build in her chest. When she newly becfriends with
him, never imagined a day would cwhen she'd have to pay him visits in jail.

But he brought it upon himself. He killed Paul, and Kage was next. That couldn't be overlooked.
"Wow. It's the ex-fiancee," he spoke in a dry voice as he took the seat opposite from hers.
His eyes were much colder than Sylvie knew them to be.
The cop that led him in had left, giving them their rightful privacy.
For half a minute, she remained silent, not knowing what to say to him.

Lowering her gaze, she took a deep breath. "This shouldn't have happened.

"Was breaking up withnot enough?" Westley shook his head. "I stayed away from you, didn't I? Was it really
necessary doing this to me? Working with your ex-husband to getarrested?"
The allegations were true. His company had indeed, smuggled goods illegally. But that was a long tago. Not
everyone was a saint, and Westley had made a mistake back then-one he didn't intend to repeat. He had paid a
lot of money back then to make sure the issue stayed buried, but of course, Kage had to dig it out and use it
against him.
"| didn't have a choice, Wes! You were going to hurt Kage. | couldn't let that happen!" Sylvie rasped.
Westley's brows furrowed in confusion. "Hurt Kage? You did this because | took over the Group's project?"
Sylvie sighed. She never wanted to bring this up to him, but now she had to.
"I know you killed Paul." It felt as if she was taking a huge burden off her shoulders. "I've known for sometime
now but couldn't find any strong evidence linking you to it.
"On the night he died, Paul had givena warning note. Then, | heard from a reliable source that you were
plotting something huge against Kage and killed Paul because he wouldn't give you his support."
"Woah Woah, hold on!" Westley scoffed, lifting his hand.
For a moment, he was gobsmacked. Then, a chuckle ripped from his throat. "What in God's nare you talking

Sylvie rolled her eyes.

"Are you for real!? Paul was my friend! A close friend!" He half-yelled. "How can you even think | killed him?"
Sylvie stared blankly at him.
