Chapter 755:
“He’s done a lot forin the past, and I'm not the kind of person who abandons someone when they're
struggling. But | do appreciate your concern, Mr. Williamson.”
Her composed response only seemed to irk Jareth further. His polite facade cracked, his smile fading as irritation
took over. “Fine, since you're so stubborn, | won't waste any more tadvising you,” he said tersely,
straightening up.
His tone shifted abruptly as he gestured toward a spot in the office. “You've got an hour to organize the
documents on your desk. And this afternoon, two important clients will be arriving for a meeting. You'll be
hosting them in the reception room.”
“Okay,” Allison simply replied before returning to her office.

mountain of paperwork. Her demeanor was quiet, almost as if she were trying to disappear into the background.
The events of the previous night lingered in her mind. Though it had been nothing more than an accident, the
subtle shift in Verruckt’s behavior hadn't gone unnoticed. It was clear that he trusted her a little more now, a
detail that she filed away for future use.
Therefore, there was no need to draw attention to herself just yet. Timing was everything, and she knew her best
move now was to bide her tand wait for the right moment to act.
Allison obeyed Jareth’s directions and made her way to the reception area later in the day. As she left, Verruckt
watched her go, his brows knitting together in visible annoyance. Was it possible she truly wanted to avoid him
that badly? Allison, unaware of his irritation, kept walking toward the reception area without a second thought.
The people who cup to this level were usually in search of shady deals, which meant there could be other
opportunities to take advantage of. Keeping that in mind, she drew closer, only to catch the sound of a voice she
recognized.
“The lab is our last hope,” said a man in a quiet, urgent tone. “I can’t just stand by while my mother suffers from
these headaches.”
Allison cto a halt, startled. Was that Colton speaking?
She froze mid-step and stayed quietly by the doorway, watching from a safe distance. Through the crack, she
saw the man—it really was Colton. Melany leaned toward him, her voice soft and reassuring. “Colton, I'm sure
fate is on your side. You'll find the medicine, no doubt about it.”
Melany sighed deeply after speaking, her tone laced with regret. “If only Allison had been a little kinder and sent
the medicine to Lindy. We wouldn't have ended up in a place like this. But no, she chose to give it to someone
else instead...”
