Chapter 815:
“When they built Fleeingland Lab, they slipped in an emergency exit,” Amya explained, spreading out the
blueprint across the table and pointing to a purple mark. “It's sealed with a numeric code, and guess what? Only
Verruckt has the combination.”
Perhaps the escape route was intended for others, which might explain why Verruckt opted out of his usual
fingerprint security. Allison studied the escape door on the blueprint, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
“It looks like I'm due for another visit to the White Stallion Club.”
“No, Ms. Clarke, it's way too risky there now,” Amya countered instantly, her concern evident. “Going back
alone? You'd be dodging bullets, and blowing your cover could happen all too easily,” she added, her brow
furrowed with worry. “You're not thinking of pulling another rescue for Verruckt, are you?” Amya’s tone was
incredulous.
“Hardly.” Allison chuckled, her amusement clear. “He’s strong enough and doesn’t need my help, but | need to
make him believe that | will be there to save him.” Her words carried a weighty undertone. She was in this for
the long haul.

Clarke, are you planning to stage another ?” Amya blinked, puzzled. “You've already earned his trust. Why
stir the pot now?”
“I need that code. Our team needs a reliable way out,” Allison explained, pointing decisively at the purple mark
on the blueprint. “His trust is a good start, but it’s not enough. | need him genuinely worried about my
wellbeing.”
For Verruckt, true trust sprang from shared peril. Danger often paved the way for opportunity.
Allison was well aware that the allies at Fleeingland Lab, along with Mollie, were likely wrapping up their end of
the battle. If Verruckt’s luck ran out too soon, well, she'd simply have to chalk it up to the harsh twists of fate.
The ballroom was swallowed by darkness as the power cut out entirely. The air reeked of sharp, bitter smoke.
Verruckt shot a quick look at Jareth, who was busy patching up his wounds nearby.
“Are you certain Alice made it out?” Verruckt asked.
“Yes,” Jareth replied calmly, pushing a syringe of painkiller into his arm. He always kept one handy for situations
like this.
“When | reached the stairway, | saw a group of men in black—dead. Whoever they faced must've been a skilled
assassin. Alice wasn’t among them.” Jareth spoke carefully, then turned his gaze to Verruckt. As usual, his stone-
faced boss showed no reaction.
After a brief pause, Jareth added, “The driver confirmed Alice got hsafely. She was shaken up, though. Don’t
be surprised if she quits tomorrow.”
