Chapter 40: Claire's POV.

After my monumental night of success, | returned hto Jasmine’s, where she was waiting forto tell her about my night. | was exhausted after our

talk and decided to head to bed. | had a few contracts to overlook in the morning.

As I laid down, | remembered the kiss Leo and I had shared. The love behind it was truly genuine. | knew that he wantedto invite him in but I decided

against it. | didn't want to give him false hope when | wasn't sure. So many things had happened in the last few months of us being apart. I still hadn't

forgotten the feeling of watching him run to Charlotte tand tagain. The sCharlotte that still lived in his house at his request.

1 decide to get srest after that thought. My late-night pondering would only open up the gates to my grief.

1 wake up to a glimmer of sunshine touching my face. It was already morning. | got ready and called a cab. After reaching my suite, | pulled out my tablet

and began working diligently on a few blueprints that were set to be set out today. | carefully ensured every millimeter and inch was exact and after about

7 hours, I had finally finished revising. I had almost forgotten my plaque from the night before. I reached into my bag and carefully pulled it out to hang on

the wall.

After mounting this figure of validation on the wall, | decided to get ready and head for the days the blueprints were finally complete, packaged carefully

and ready for delivery. As I'm packing my things, the delivery courier arrives to retrieve them. A familiar face as he's worked for Leo over the years.

“Good afternoon, I'm here to retrieve 5 items for an express delivery.” | had my back turned as | carefully grabbed the blueprints.

“Here you go. Please be careful with them.” His face turned to that of shock once he

saw me.

“Ms. Claire?” He asks in confusion. He had only ever metas Leo’s secretary and wife.

“Yes?”

“Oh, nothing! It’s just been a while since I've seen you at the office. I'll deliver these for you right away.” He nods

carefully.

“Thank you, Kelvin.” | say with a smile.

“How-how did you know my name?” He looks dumbfounded.

Chapter 40: Claire’s POV

“Well I've seen you assist Leo for years. It’s only fair that | address you properly.” | shrug as | see the acceptance

and happiness plastered on his face.

“Thank you, Ms. Claire. I'll deliver these right away and email you once I've finished delivering them all.” He

takes the blueprints and hurries out the door. | remember when he started working for Leo. The office members

looked down on him - the sway they looked down on me. Every the in, I'd been friendly, hoping to show

him that he wasn’t overlooked. Leo had started doing the sonce he noticed my Xander had more to do with

the treatment | received than any interest in pursuing him.

| grab my bag to leave and as | exit the building of my suite to call a cab, | see there is already one waiting for

me. | call Leo before walking towards it.

“Hey, did you calla cab?” Confusing enough, | don’t think he’d know my work schedule considering I've left it

to my efficiency.

“No. Why?"

“Well there's one already here and it looks like they're waiting for me.” I say as I look at the cab’s plate, memorizing its numbers.

“Claire - Go back inside now! I'm on my way! Don’t unlock the door until arrive!” He says urgently in a stern voice. | rush back inside casually as if I'd

forgotten something and lock the door behind me. From the window, | can see the cab is still waiting at the corner until | see Leo's town car arrive ten

minutes later. It then speeds off instantly.

That cab was waiting for me. The sway the town car had been waiting for- the day that they intentionally killed my son.
