Karen left Dorothy stunned. She found herself involuntarily revisiting Maxton’s statement in her head.

Suddenly, Dorothy lifted her eyes, meeting Karen's gaze.
The wind was rustling, creating a soft sound.
Karen, for once, caught on quickly. She cleared her throat. "You're not going to..." "I won't let Everett know." Dorothy spoke lightly, yet her tone was firm.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"No! Do you know how hard it is to be a single mother?" Karen had a relative who was a single mother, so she knew the struggles all too well. And Dorothy should know it too. Her own mother had been in the same situation, hadn't she? "I know." "But you still..." Kenneth cut Karen off. He had been standing by silently the whole time. "Dorothy, whether you want to keep the baby or not, it's your choice. Think about it carefully." "Never mind, | was just saying." Dorothy dropped her gaze; her voice was calm but distant. "I'm a bit tired; I'll go rest in the car for a while. There are still some things to handle at the funeral home. I'll go back later." "Okay." After watching Dorothy return to the car, Karen shook off Kenneth’s hand and frowned. "Why did you stop me? Why are you encouraging her to keep the baby? Dorothy's decided to cut ties with the Lopez family, so having this baby would only be a burden to her!" Though Karen didn't like to describe an unborn child in such a manner, that was the reality.
Dorothy's career was just taking off in Eldorria City when this happened. Leaving the Lopez Corporation meant starting over from scratch. How could she manage to do this with a child to take care of on top of that? “Haven't you noticed that Dorothy, as she is now, barely has any will to live?” “What?” Kenneth sighed lightly as he furrowed his eyebrows. "She's not crying or throwing a tantrum. She's calmly dealing with the present. This indicates that she is preparing for something." "No way! Dorothy said she’d uncover the truth. She wants those responsible to pay!" "Do you really think that Dorothy, who surely knows as well as you do that confronting the Lopez family would be as useless as stopping a boulder with a pebble, is not aware of the consequences?" Kenneth’s gaze shifted to the car parked by the side of the road as his eyes narrowed in worry. "She’s prepared for the worst. If she can't get justice, she'll take those responsible down with her." Ever since she found out she was pregnant and immediately stated that she didn’t want the child, Kenneth had an inkling of what she was planning.
Dorothy loved Everett, that much was clear to Kenneth. So, how could she decide to have an abortion without any hesitation? There should at least have been some internal struggle, right? Kenneth continued, “So, we should convince her to keep the baby and then slowly counsel her. As the baby grows day by day, Dorothy will become attached.” Karen thought for a moment with a strange expression on her face. After a moment of silence, she finally spoke up. “Kenneth, | thought that once Dorothy finally broke up with Everett, you would have a chance. It might be unfair, but I really hope you and Dorothy can be together. She's a good girl who's deserving of love. But if she has Everett's child...” “You think | can't accept a child?” Karen was taken aback. “You don't mind?!” “At this point, this baby is the only thing keeping Dorothy from doing something foolish. He’d be her savior.”
