"Everglow City isn't exactly a hub for big shots. You're so beautiful that if he got out of his car and saw you, he'd definitely be hot on your heels." Karen teased; her tone was laced with sarcasm. She sighed, reaching out to touch Abigail's cheek. "But then again, it's no surprise you don't have eyes for the handsome ones, considering you turned down one of the most handsome one." Dorothy froze, understanding the hidden meaning behind Karen's tone. The mention of that person was something she wanted to avoid, even without naming names.
"Looks like the night market's almost closing. Let's find a diner or something, grab a bite, and head home." Dorothy quickly changed the subject.

Dorothy, we've been besties for years. Do you think | don't know you?" Dorothy took a deep breath and, in a soft but firm voice, countered Karen’s accusation. "I've truly moved on. He's married now, and | can't be thinking about a married man." With that, she held Abigail's hand and started walking ahead.
Karen quickly caught up with her. "If you've really moved on, why haven't you accepted any suitors all this time? And don't give me the "I'm too busy with work’ excuse!" "Karen, you should spend your time figuring yourself out first. Your mom told me during our last meeting that if you don't bring home a boyfriend by the end of the year, she's going to start arranging your marriage.” Karen chuckled. "I don't mind! In fact, why don't you join me for a blind date next weekend? I'll show you what charm is." Dorothy paused, arching her eyebrow at her. "You're going on a blind date?" "Sure am! My brother set it up. He's a returnee and comes from a good family. A potential marriage prospect.” "But why would | tag along on your blind date?" Was she supposed to be a third wheel? "You're my best friend! You can keep an eye out for me." Karen took out her phone and showed Dorothy a picture of her date.
"What do you think? Not bad, right?" Dorothy took a closer look.
He was a clean-cut, handsome man. He was very refined and a bit skinny.
She smiled at Karen. "Is this your type?" "What? You don't think he's good?" "I didn't say that. | just think you might be too lively for him." "That's why we're meeting for a blind date. We need to get to know each other. If it doesn't work out, we will go our separate ways. But you have to come, please!" Karen mimicked Abigail and began shaking her arm pleadingly.
Abigail didn't understand their conversation, but her big, adorable eyes blinked as she giggled. "Mommy, Abigail wants to go too! | wants to go with Aunt Karen!" "Then I'll see if I'm free next weekend." Everett didn't have anyone follow Dorothy's car. He was afraid she would notice and get spooked.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmNow that he knew she was in Everglow City and working at East Star Enterprises, it would be easy for him to keep tabs on her.
"Mr. Lopez, Ms. Sanchez was involved in the Everglow City Resort project. | found the old files from our previous collaboration.
Her name is indeed listed." Kevin announced while handing over the documents to Mr. Lopez.
Sure enough, in the column for project leaders, Dorothy's name was clearly written.
