The building executive checked his surroundings. He then continued in a subdued voice, “This
morning, the higher-ups have ordered us to retire Steven’s membership. In addition to that, our
members will not be allowed any business dealings with him.”
Barry exclaimed in shock, “That’s pushing him toward bankruptcy!”
Every successful businessman must have owed the bank some money. For them to be denied any
business dealings was akin to forcing them into surrender.
The banks might have gotten wind of this by now. It wouldn’t be surprising if they were waiting for
Steven somewhere.
Barry blinked a few times before letting out a knowing sigh. “He must have gotten in the way of
someone important!”
“I’m guessing the same.” The building executive whispered to Barry, “Mr. Silverton, seeing that we’re
acquainted, I’ll let you in on this. Can you guess which one of our higher committee members issued
the order?”

“Haha! Mr. Silverston, have you considered joining our group yet?” The building executive was evading
his question. “If you wish to do business in Paramount State, it’ll be incredibly helpful to join our
membership.”
“Hahaha! Don’t you see that I’m here now?” Barry laughed heartily as remark.
“Then, I’ll have to give you an early welcome for joining our group of merchants!” The building
executive was satisfied with his answer. He extended his right hand to Barry.
After the handshake, the building executive leaned in and whispered a name into his ears. Barry’s pupil
shrunk upon hearing the name. He could only express his deepest sympathy toward Steven’s ill
encounter.
Too bad for him to have crossed the man on top!
The building executive noticed the look on Barry’s face and reassured him with a smile. “Mr. Silverston,
don’t let that bother you. If the Chamber of Commerce did not chime in on this matter, I’m afraid Steven
would suffer much worse than just bankruptcy.”
“Is that how it is?” Barry was a little rattled. “Let’s go and get my registration in order! I can still afford
three million worth of annual membership fee.”
Hehe! Who would have thought that someone’s misfortune would do me a favor instead? I guess I’ll
have Steven to thank.
The building executive was grinning as he led Barry into the commerce building.
At the Pavilion Hotel, inside the President’s suite, Jacob was standing by the window while answering a
call on his phone.
“Dad, rest assured. I’ve sent someone to check. There’s nothing going on at home. Perhaps… Aunt
was mistaken. There’s nothing to worry about and you should get back to your work… All right, I’m
going to hang up now.”
After he put down the phone, he looked toward Jerry who was standing at the side. “Bring in more men.
I will not allow any mishap in Rowan Lane.”
“Understood, Boss.” Jerry lifted his chest. “I will not let anything that falls within three kilometers of
Rowan Lane to escape my sight. Not even a housefly.”

Jacob sharpened his gaze. His face was slightly concerned. “Not just Rowan Lane, all the others as
well! Little Professor kindergarten, Harleydale Senior High, Oriental Tower and also my daughter’s
neighborhood. Make sure you have tight security on all of them!”
Jerry lowered his head, put his fist against his chest, and said with a solemn face, “No worries, Boss.
You can leave this to me!”
Jacob nodded. “As always, I’m pretty confident in your ability…”
He took a glance at the computer screen on top of the desk, then squeezed his brows into a knot. “But
I’ll feel more assured if you can cut down on your gaming hours.”
“Hehe! Boss, gaming happens to be my only hobby.” Jerry was scratching the back of his head as he
chuckled.
After a few moments of silence, he dropped his hand and changed into a serious tone. “Boss, the guy
from Cruour Sect is a bit hard to deal with. I don’t think I can handle him alone. If you don’t mind, I
would like Gerald’s help on this.”
At the same time, the skillful Willow entered the room in a silver-gray windbreaker. “Boss, I would like
you to come with me.”
