Suklenby, Tess said, “Maia, do you think Celia has potential?”
“Mm–hmm, right,” Maia said listlessly.
Tess was puzzled. “What do you mean, Mala?”
“Huh? What did you say?” Maia looked up at Tess and pocketed her phone.
Tess looked at Maia and asked, “You seem distracted. What’s on your mind?”
Maia quickly lied, “Just work stuff.”
“1 told you not to keep thinking about work, Mala” Tess looked at Errol “You too, Errol. Don’t ever let
work dominate your life.”
“You’re right, Aunt Tess” Trying to change the subject, Mala asked with a smile, “So what were you
talking about?”
Tess said, “I was telling Errol that since Celia is going to become one of your artists, you surely pave
the way for her.”

Maia nodded. “Several of my guys think Celia has potential, too. I’m sure they’ll come up with ways to
make her shine.”
See? Don’t worry, Errol Maia will look after her.” Tess said happily.

Errol nodded and gestured, “You don’t have to give her any special treatmen Mala Celia would
understand.”
“That’s good.” Maia smiled.
After dinner, Tess asked her to help her in the kitchen, while Errol and Nigel cleaned the table. Maia
then helped Tess wash the dishes.
“Maia,” Tess called out as she set down the plates.
“Yes, Aunt Tess?”
“How do you plan to deal with Hope Warren?
Maia was taken aback. “Hope?”
“Yeah, now that Yvette is dead, are you going to let her daughter off the hook? That woman killed your
mom. Hope deserves to be punished just as much as her mother!” Tess said angrily.
Maia answered calmly, “Hope wasn’t involved at all. We shouldn’t take it out on her.

Hearing this, Tess quickly put down the dishes and smacked Maia’s shoulder. “How can be so stupid?
If Hope manages to seduce Buck, she could turn him against you and do things behind your back!”
“Aunt Tess, Hope won’t do anything like that…”
“You’re too trusting, Maia!”
Handing over the last dish to Tess, Maia had an idea and took out her phone to check the time.
“Aunt Tess, your favorite TV show is about to start. Come on, let’s watch it together.” Changing the
subject, she took Tess by the hand and headed toward the living room.
The show began at 8 p.m.
Maia was not the slightest bit interested in soap operas, but Tess became so engrossed in the show
that she stopped talking about Hope, much to her niece’s relief.
“It’s so good, isn’t it?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah, it’s good,” Maia answered absent–mindedly, not even paying attention to the
show.
“That guy
is so good at playing the victim. See, look how he’s managed to dupe the girl!‘
Taken aback, Maia suddenly thought of something.
At that moment, her phone vibrated in her pocket. Baz had texted her again.
“Mis. Maia, Cedric’s wound has indeed torn open again!”
“He told me not to tell you about this, so keep this between us, okay?”

Reading these messages, Maia suddenly thought about what happened and caught on.
Cedric was trying to play the victim too! That fucking asshole!
“Aunt Tess, I suddenly remembered that I left an important document at the office. Keep watching the
show, okay? I’ll go get it.”
“Huh? You’re going back to the office now? Get Nigel to go with you.” Tess was still trying to pair them
up.
“Yeah, let me drive you, Maia,” Nigel said.
Maia could only nod. She then left the apartment with Nigel.

It was quiet in the car until Nigel broke the silence.
“Did he hurt you, Maia?”
Knowing who he was talking about, Maia shook her head.
“I know it’s not my place to ask you to stay away from him, but I saw what happened in the past. You
trust me, right?”
Stopping the car at a red light, Nigel turned to look at her.
Seeing his earnest look, Maia nodded. “I do. Just as Aunt Tess said, you helped us a lot, and Errol and
I have long treated you like our elder brother.”
In other words, she only saw him as a brother.
