Tess looked at the packed food in Maia’s arms.
“My friend made smoked fish. I got it from her early this morning,” Mala said, making an
excuse.
“Smoked fish, eh? I can make that too. There’s no need to trouble your friend. Leave it to me.”
“Sure thing. I can’t wait to taste your smoked fish!”
Eventually, they made their way into the elevator.
“I came to ask you something, Maia.”
“Go ahead, Aunt Tess.”
“I read from the internet that you bought over Nebula Entertainment for Hope’s sake. Is that true? I told you to stay away from
her. By buying over her company, you freed her from her unfavorable contract.”
Tess was a little upset. She thought Maia tricked her. “People were already spreading rumors that you wanted to help her with it.
Do you think the general public won’t realize that now that you’ve bought over her company?”
“I did it for the good of Starlight Entertainment, Aunt Tess.”
Tess was having none of that, “That’s bullshit! Starlight Entertainment was one of the top entertainment companies in the
business. What does it stand to gain from buying Nebula Entertainment?”
“That’s not it, Aunt Tess. Hope was a valuable asset in their eyes. Our company stands to gain much from this acquisition.”
In truth, the company might not have gained that much, but it did not lose anything either. Furthermore, the takeover put her
company back in the spotlight.
With renewed public interest, Starlight Entertainment would be able to recruit more trainees
and artists..

Tess looked at her in disbelief. “What about Hope? This acquisition effectively makes her one of your celebrities. I don’t agree
with it!”
Maia turned on the air conditioner and poured a glass of juice the moment they were in her apartment. “Here, have some juice.

You might think of her as your sister, but she might not think the same!
“You said you bought over Nebula Entertainment for the good of your company. Fine. I’m not sure how it works in your industry,

but you have to fire Hope and kick her out of there!”
There was no way Maia would agree with that. Nothing about that decision made sense. Hope was a television drama ratings

“Hope is valuable, Aunt Tess. Am I supposed to give my competitors the advantage by kicking her out of my company?”
“You’re too kind, Maia. You’ll pay for it someday. I guess you’re just not going to listen to me
anymore.
“You’d do well to remember who pulled you out of the fire! If I hadn’t led the team to save you, you wouldn’t even be alive to
argue with me right now!”
“I’m not arguing, Aunt Tess. I’m aware that you saved me, but this is about what’s best for my company. I can’t fire Hope. I know

Maia was stunned. Did Hope sign a lifetime contract with Sunny Videos? This was the first time she had heard anything about it.
Why had no one mentioned it to her?
“Maia.” Errol signed again. “It’s only right that Aunt Tess couldn’t understand it. After all, Hope’s mom did a lot of bad things to us.
Aunt Tess got worked up because she cares about us.
