on the case.”
Chapter 189 Nigel, You’re Nothing!
“Nigel, my wife doesn’t need your protection.”
Nigel looked at Cedric directly, not moving an inch. “Cedric, who are you to call Maia your wife? Have your forgotten how you’ve
treated her? You can’t take advantage of her just because she has lost her memories!
“Everyone knows that you’re divorced. Have you forgotten how you and the whole Larkin family discarded Maia? News about it
can still be found all over the internet!”
“Are you just trying to flaunt your job ethics?” Cedric said mockingly.
“Maia, this man doesn’t deserve you. You should leave him! Even if you’ve lost your memories, you need to know what he has
done to you.
“He made you have a miscarriage and almost killed you in a fire. This was all his family’s doing!” Nigel said in frustration as he
saw Maia trying to stop him.
“Nigel, I don’t remember any of this. Could you please stop blaming Cedric? I don’t want you to fight.”
Nigel sighed as he heard Maia explaining.
Cedric’s eyes turned cold as he recalled their past. Hearing Nigel bringing all of it up was like him driving a dagger through his
heart. It hurt, and he was just as angry at himself too.
“Cedric, you don’t deserve Maia. She gave you everything she had, yet what did you give in return? Nothing but pain and agony.
“If you really love her, you should let her go! Let her have a chance at finding her own happiness! Stop trying to confine her by
your side!‘
Nigel’s gentle side was nowhere to be seen as he continued to lash out at Cedric. This was the first time Maia had Nigel like this.
He had never acted this boldly, not even when he confessed at Tess’s place. It scared her.
Cedric sat upright on the bed as he glared at an agitated Nigel. He gave off a cold and terrifying aura, just like the calm before a
storm.
“Maia is the only one in this world that I would gladly surrender to. If she wanted to kill me, I would willingly pass her a knife. I
would accept anything she throws at me..
“Tell me though, who do you think you are? You are nothing to me!” Cedric warned. dangerously as he looked at Nigel with
scorn.
Maia knew Cedric very well, and realized that he was on the edge of exploding. If there had been a gun in the room, Maia would
not be surprised if he aimed it at Nigel and pulled the
“Nigel, that’s enough! Please leave! You’re not welcome here!” Maia cried angrily as she pointed at the door.
Nigel looked at Maia with hurt in his eyes, but she did not acknowledge it as she continued to point toward the door.
“What are you waiting for? Leave!” Cedric demanded coldly.
“Maia, I’m just trying to help! Do you know what you’re doing?” Nigel asked, his from the exchange.

hurtful.
“You’re right. I’ve no right to interfere. Still, I hope that you won’t regret what you’re doing. This man has hurt you deeply. I hope
you won’t regret it when you regain your memories,” Nigel said with a pained expression on his face.
“Leave, now!” Maia was worried that Cedric would lay his hands on Nigel at any second.
Nigel took a last look at Cedric. It was like they were in a thousand battles as their eyes met. Finally, Nigel relented as he looked
away and left the room.
Maia could only apologize a million times in her heart as she watched Nigel’s retreating form. She knew that he only wanted
what was best for her. However, for the sake of her plans and his life, she had no choice but to do this.
The room finally returned to silence. Maia lowered her head and tears started to flow down her cheeks.
She did not know why exactly she was crying. Maybe it was because of the guilt she felt turning Nigel away, or the hurt that she
had felt when Nigel had brought up her past.
When she wanted to wipe her tears, she was once again pulled into a warm embrace. Instead of accepting it, Maia lifted her
hand and gave Cedric a slap on the face.
“Are you happy? Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?”
Cedric stared at her. He had never been slapped by anyone ever. Was he embarrassed? Not at all. He was more than happy to
let her do it again if it made her feel better.
He took her palm into his hand as he studied it.
“Your palm is red,” he said in a worried tone..
