Mabel?”
Mabel lifted her head proudly. “Right? | am super adorable!”

Laughter echoed upstairs, while downstairs, all was quiet.
That “sweetheart” had stirred excitement in Julius and Arthur, but it was all for nothing.
Julius pressed his lips together. He thought, “When has she ever call“sweetheart” with such tenderness?”
He turned to Arthur. “Dad, | want Mom to readbedtime
stories.”

choice is yours to make?”

Arthur looked down at him. “The choice was never yours to make. It has always been hers. She chooses you, and
that is when she will be gentle and smile. If she does not, no matter how hard you try, she will not even give you

The harsh truth hit Julius, and his heart could not take it. He stood frozen, feeling stunned.
