Jayce asked, “Want to cin for a bit?”

“No.” Charlotte shook her head. “I need to pick Julius up from school.” She remembered she had promised him
yesterday. As an adult, she couldn't go back on her word.
“I see.” Jayce looked a little disappointed. After a brief pause, he suddenly asked, “Can | go with you, then?”
Charlotte instinctively wanted to say no. But when her eyes met him, the deep, somber look in them, paired with
his pale complexion, made the words stick in her throat. She thought, “He helpedout so much before. How
could gifting a dog possibly repay that?”
“Sure,” she said with a smile and a slight nod.
Jayce took hold of the dog leash. “I'll take Sunny along.”
Charlotte nodded again. “Okay.”
Without hesitation, Jayce headed for the door. Delia moved to follow him, but he glanced back and said, “You
don’t need to cwith me.”
She hesitated. “But Mr. Caldwell...”
Jayce cut Delia off firmly. “That's an order.” His tone toward her was distant and stern.

She then watched as they stepped into the elevator, her face clouding with quiet sadness. She pulled out her
phone and called Edward to report the situation.

Edward was irritated and snapped, “I've already warned him to stop this nonsense! Why is he still being so
unreasonable? | didn’t even call him out for going after that actress for no reason before!”
Delia pressed her lips together before suggesting, “Sir Caldwell, perhaps you should talk to Mrs. Harrison and ask
her to keep her distance from Mr. Caldwell. He's sensitive. Once he realizes he’s been turned down, I'm sure he
won't pursue her anymore.”
She mused, “What a shameless idea, all for the sake of keeping Mr. Caldwell to myself. But... even if it's a single,
simple girl, that would be fine. Why does it have to be Mrs. Harrison? She’s Mr. Caldwell’s good friend's wife! He
can’t make that kind of mistake...”

Edward was silent for a moment before agreeing, “You're right. Let Charlotte turn him down a few more times.”
Hearing that, Delia let out a small sigh of relief and thought, “Mrs. Harrison is so smart. Once Sir Caldwell talks to
her, she’ll understand what she needs to do.”

The order at the kindergarten entrance was well-maintained. Even so, Charlotte said to Jayce, “You and Sunny
stay in the car. I'm worried sof the kids might be scared of the dog.”
“Alright.” Jayce nodded without fuss.

glanced down at the Labrador, Sunny, sitting obediently nearby. It also looked back at him.
After a moment, Sunny suddenly let out a low whimper, lying flat on the seat. The dog avoided making eye
contact with Jayce, even tucking its tail tightly. Jayce kept staring at Sunny, and its whole body began to tremble
under the intensity of his gaze.
“Mom!” Julius spotted Charlotte and called out, running toward her as fast as his little legs could carry him.
“Don’t run,” Charlotte reminded him softly with a gentle smile. She couldn't help but notice that Arthur's shadow
in Julius- his coldness, indifference, and aloofness-was gradually fading away. That was a relief.
She reached out, ruffled Julius’ hair affectionately, and held his hand as they began walking back to the car. Just
then, the sound of a car horn broke through the air.
They instinctively turned toward the noise and saw a luxury car not far away. Jacob was behind the wheel, and
Arthur sat in the
backseat.
“It’s Dad,” Julius said and then looked up at her. “Are you going over there, Mom?”
Charlotte shook her head. “No, but do you want to go say hi to him?” Julius nodded in response.
She released his hand with a small smile. “Go ahead. I'll wait for you right here.”
“Okay,” Julius replied.

Julius walked up to the car and called out, “Hey, Dad.”
Arthur responded with a hum and said, “Get in.”
But Julius shook his head. “Dad, I'm going to have lunch with
Mom.”
The surrounding area was noisy, filled with the chatter of

families picking up their kids. A few people noticed Arthur and seemed to want to cover to greet him, but
upon seeing he was in the middle of a conversation with his child, they wisely held back.
Arthur's gaze settled on Julius, his eyes darkening. “Julius, do you even remember whose kid you are?”
For sreason, Julius felt a chill run down his spine. Straightening his small frimmediately, he nodded and
replied, “I do, but I also know I'm my mom's son.”
Arthur's expression turned cold, his eyes glinting with an icy sharpness as he looked at Julius. Then, his gaze
drifted to Charlotte, standing not far away.
She didn’t seem to care about what was happening here. To her, Arthur might as well have been a stranger,
someone insignificant.
That realization left a bitter taste in his mouth.

With a slight nod, Julius paused briefly before suggesting, “Dad, | think if you talk nicely to Mom, she might
change her mind and let you join us.”
Arthur was utterly stunned, his face darkening instantly. Before he could respond, Julius had already turned and
walked away.
Just then, Jacob asked hesitantly, “Mr. Harrison, should | still deliver these to Mrs. Harrison?”
The front passenger seat was piled with gift boxes, mostly jewelry from high-end brands. Sophia had gotten her
hands on the last set, which Arthur couldn't stand, so he'd gotten rid of them by donating them. Then, he
instructed Jacob to get a new batch.
Arthur shot him a frosty glare and said coolly, “Nobody asked you to speak.” He then shifted his attention back
to the mother and son duo as they approached a car.

Soon, the door opened, and Jayce stepped out.
Arthur's sharp eyes narrowed, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. He pulled out his phone and dialed Jayce's
number.
As soon as Julius got in the car, he spotted Sunny, the Labrador, and was surprised. Hesitantly, he reached out to
pet it. Realizing Sunny was gentle, he began to play with it enthusiastically.
Later, Jayce’s phone rang, and he pulled it out to answer it. “Hello?”
Arthur's cold voice cthrough. “Go to Night Club. | need to talk to you.”

Jayce glanced at Charlotte and replied, “I'm busy right now.”

“Jayce, are you targeting one of my artists because you have a problem with me?” Arthur asked bluntly before
hanging up.
Jayce lowered his gaze slightly, his brows furrowing with dissatisfaction. He wondered, “Is Arthur sticking up for
Sophia? She bullied Charlotte, and Arthur, as her husband, didn’t even help her. What's wrong withstepping
in?”
Noticing Jayce’s mood, Julius spoke up considerately, “Is something wrong, Mr. Caldwell?”
Jayce turned to him and suddenly asked, “Do you want to switch dads?”
Charlotte was shocked. “Mr. Caldwell!”
Julius’ innocent face showed confusion. His bright, clear eyes fixed on Jayce as he asked hesitantly, “Are you...
going to be my new dad?”
“Would that be okay?” Jayce asked with a faint smile.
Charlotte's expression turned more serious. “Mr. Caldwell, don’t joke like that with Julius.”
Jayce pressed his lips together. He wanted to say he wasn’t joking, but seeing her calm and stern gaze, he didn’t
dare speak
up.
Julius blinked, thought carefully for a moment, and said, “I don’t want a new dad. My dad is great as he is.” He
turned to Charlotte and added, “I don’t want a new mom, either. My mom
