Chapter 388 You Need a Woman
The man’s sharp jawline and angular features gave him a commanding presence. His thin lips curved into a faint
smile as he studied her with a hint of amusement. “The charity gala’s not over. Why are you leaving so early?”
He stopped just in front of Evie. The cool autumn breeze brushed past, adding a faint chill to the air. Her delicate
face turned pale in the wind, but she kept up her signature smile.
“Oh, it’s you. What a coincidence,” she said lightly. “I've got something urgent to take care of. Was there
something you needed?”
Her heart pounded in her chest, her grip on the fabric of her dress tightening until her knuckles turned white.
She thought, “Why has he noticed me? I'd done everything to stay under the radar.”
The man pulled out a box and opened it, revealing the jade ring from earlier. Under the light, the gemstone
gleamed with a soft, luminous glow, its diamond accents sparkling like tiny stars. “You seemed to like this,” he
said, his tone casual but firm. “Take it. It's yours.”
Evie glanced at the ring but quickly shook her head. “That's far too generous. I'm sorry, but | can’t accept it.”

kept her tone polite. “I really have to go. My daughter's waiting forat home, and she gets scared if I'm late. If
you're planning to stay in Lanceser for a while, feel free to drop by the Night Club anytime. Goodbye.” Without
waiting for a response, she turned and walked away briskly.
The man’s eyes followed her retreating figure, narrowing slightly. When they had stood close, the breeze had
carried her scent to him-familiar and intoxicating, something that lingered in his mind.
He thought, “She refused me. But that doesn’t matter. | have time. Plenty of tto make her change her mind.”

Charlotte was still distracted, worrying about Evie, and didn’t notice anything unusual about Arthur-until she felt
a hand on her thigh. Her body stiffened. She turned her head sharply, her voice low and sharp. “What are you
doing?”
Arthur didn’t pull his hand away. His palm lingered on her smooth skin, lightly brushing as if he couldn't resist the
sensation. “I think someone spiked my drink,” he said, his voice hoarse and strained.
Charlotte frowned. “Don’t look at me. | didn’t drug you, so don’t even think about blaming me.”
Arthur let out a quiet sigh, as though resigning himself. “I didn’t say it was you. I just... I'm not feeling right. Can
you helpto the lounge?”

His voice sounded so off, so unsteady, that Charlotte hesitated. After a moment, she sighed and nodded, “Fine.”
She slipped an arm around him, helping him up, and they made their way to the lounge. Inside, she helped
Arthur onto the couch before quickly stepping back, putting distance between them. “I'll go find Dr. Holland,” she
said briskly, already heading toward the door.
“Charlotte...” Arthur's voice was thick with desperation, his body burning up, every nerve screaming for relief. He

He thought, “Charlotte, you are my cure but now you're going to finda doctor.”
“I'll get someone to help you,” she called back, shutting the door behind her without looking back.
Arthur groaned, leaning back on the couch as he yanked at his tie. His body felt like it was on fire, and his throat
was parched. Grabbing a water bottle from the table, he drained it in seconds, but it didn’t help.
His usually sharp eyes were clouded now, a flush of red creeping across his face. He was struggling to keep
control when the door creaked open again. A figure stepped inside, moving with grace. As she got closer, her
subtle perfreached him, sweet and alluring.
Arthur's brows furrowed, his voice low and raspy. “Who are
