Chapter 401 Nobody Gets to Be Happy

Arthur walked out, leaving behind a suffocating silence in the villa’s living room. Camille had rushed to the

hospital, while James sat heavily on the couch, his face dark and his sighs

endless.

Emma helped Sarah to her feet, her voice urgent. “Con, we need to think of something. Sarah can’t marry

this Henry guy- she’s from a wealthy family. How can she marry snobody?”

Sarah stared blankly ahead, utterly consumed by a deep sense of powerlessness.

James pulled out his phone and called Sebastian, “Sebastian, your sister's in trouble. Cback right now.”

But Sebastian's tone was cold, detached. “I haven't been able to reach Lottie. Can you?”

“Lottie? I'm talking about Sarah!” James was almost shouting in frustration.

Sebastian's voice turned even colder. “What could possibly happen to her? She’s at home, isn’t she?”

James explained everything that had just happened.

After listening, Sebastian's response was chillingly calm. “That's fine. Once she’s married, she won't cause any

more trouble. You have to understand, Dad-if she stirs up any more and makes Arthur angry, the

Hardwick Group will be finished. Right now, the Harrison Group could crush us easily if they wanted

to.”

James fell silent. After ending the call, he stood up and said coldly, “Go to your room. Get srest. The

wedding’s in two weeks-prepare yourself.”

But before he could finish, Sarah bolted for the door. She had to

find Jennifer.

Five years ago, when Arthur was preparing for their wedding, Jennifer had suddenly approached her. She offered

a deal: 10 million dollars to go abroad and further her studies. Jennifer had promised that once Sarah achieved

something, she could cback and marry Arthur.

Jennifer had always looked down on her, thinking she wasn’t good enough for Arthur. In the year they dated,

Sarah had suffered countless slights and humiliations from her.

So, Jennifer's sudden offer of goodwill-plus 10 million dollars -had left Sarah both shocked and tempted. She'd

taken the money. Deep down, she also thought she wasn’t good enough for Arthur.

She was just a girl from an ordinary family, and every time. she accompanied him to high-profile events, she

could feel the disdain in the eyes of others. Nobody tried to befriend her. She

wanted to change that. She wanted to better herself.

She accepted the money and left before their wedding. But now, Jennifer was her only hope. If anyone could get

her out of this nightmare, it was her. She needed Jennifer to help her leave again. She couldn't marry a stranger.

Yet the moment she reached the villa’s entrance, she was blocked by two guards. “Mr. Harrison gave strict

orders-Ms. Miller is not allowed to step out of the Hardwick Villa before the wedding,” one of them said, his

expression blank.

Sarah's face turned pale. “I need to see Mrs. Jennifer Harrison. Letsee Mrs. Jennifer Harrison.”

The guards remained stone-faced. Sarah thought, “I’m trapped, stuck in here, waiting to be married off to a man

| don’t even know, let alone love. How could he do this to me? Yes, | made mistakes. | admit it. But why couldn't

he forgive me? Why?”

Tears streaming down her face, Sarah stumbled back into the house. Then, slowly, a bitter, crazed smile spread

across her

face.

She thought, “If | couldn’t be happy, then neither could

Charlotte. With this mess hanging over her, Arthur would never let Charlotte off easily. Nobody gets to be

happy.”

Dusk settled over the villa as the sound of a car engine echoed through the driveway.

Chapter 401 Nobody Gets to Be Happy Charlotte sat curled up on the sofa, hugging her knees, her gaze empty

and unfocused. The steady thud of footsteps approached, stopping in front of her. A pair of polished shoes and

long legs cinto view. She immediately turned her face away, shutting her eyes tight.

“You've been trying to run away again?” Arthur's voice was cold and unyielding, hovering above her.
